Fortune looked a real threat. No idea why they took him off. Yeah, Brown trying to be Mourinho.

In this kind of form could we win the next 4 games, or at least 3 of them? Bury(A) Chesterfield (H) Coventry (A) Shrewsbury (H)?
Even our strikers looked capable of making chances/scoring today.

That's one of the worst referees I've seen! Two excellent finishes allowed us to sit and soak it up. Why they took Fortune off was an absolute mystery, he was causing problems. Manse played intelligently although having 2 in here without Sincs energy meant they dominated in the middle. Simon Cox is an irritating twerp. Simon Cox should've been sent off for that 2 footed karate kick on Lockyer, he had no intention of getting the ball. Kettle did give him a stiff talking to though, so that's okay I suppose! What those 2 free kicks at the edge of our penalty area were for, maybe only Mr Kettle will ever know. Lumley did pull off a Worldy for one, which I really enjoyed though. Thanks Mr Kettle

Refereeing was 'inconsistent' Bit of handbags - a few raised arms - going on in the middle and he just jumped in and pushed them apart when ball still in play. Carried on for a bit so he blew up and pretty much told them to calm down. Really good refereeing in that instance. Just thought I'd credit him for that. Rest of decisions regarding a few challenges left a bit to be desired though.

What a disgusting, horrible, dirty, cheating bunch of bastards Southend are. Utter disgrace. Glad it didn't matter. Terrible ref too. Turned a blind eye to so many incidents (inc Lines retaliation). Great game though. Would love to watch games like that, Bradford and Sheffield every week.

What a result, 3 months ago we would of lost that 3-2.
Lumley is brilliant, not only can he pull off great saves like the free kick, but also seems to organise and communicate well with the back 4.
Also worth mentioning Mansell, what a performance from him, didn't look like a player who's spent the majority of the season out of the match day squad.
Will we catch the team on 6th place come the end of April? I'm not sure but we won't lose many!

Very impressed with james today especially first half when he won loads of headers and worked his socks off. His control for Gaffers goal was superb as well, and unlucky with the shot that hit the post.
Gaffney was back to his old self as well and scored a good goal and unlucky not to get another.
Southend put us under pressure second half but were woeful in front of goal.
They are nothing more than a dirty horrible niggly team that constantly moaned to the ref.

Still only a dream, but Before today we needed 7 wins from 10 games now we need 6 from 9 if we win our next two it's down to 4 wins from 7 games and begins to look achievable. UTG

Great win today. So glad we didn't have to chase the game as we had f'all on the bench mind.Would like to know what the Oxford fans think about Southend after labelling us as physical. That Fortune bloke thought he was at twickenham with the fecking hands offs to the face and was part of a thoroughly thuggish mob.

One of their forwards headbutted Clarke too.
Without doubt the dirtiest side I've seen at the Mem in a long time and not in a good way. Normally I can respect a physical team that mix it, but Southend overstepped that line the whole match.
Glad they got f**k all for their efforts.

Superb first half and dug in when we had 2 in the 2nd. With the players missing today that's a bloody good effort. Mansell excellent considering he's hardly played thought James & Gaffney set the tone both never stopped chasing. James performance deserved a goal hopefully that will come on Tues. 9 to go you never know.

Loved that - superb win.
Showed two very different sides to our game there. Majority of the first half our attacking was brilliant, scored two superb goals and could have had 2/3 more.
Second half we defended our box excellently and Lumley put in another top performance.
Well-deserved win. Bodin is magic. Love Manse. That is all.

Top performance
Lumley Manse Gaffers
And fair play to James, barely lost a ball in the air, unlucky to hit the post and not connect with Gaffneys pass near the end
It will happen for him, cannnot fault the work rate, this is what we want , all to play for
9 to go, you never know

I have no doubt we will have a great haul of points in next few games we will hit the top six before march is out , my spider sense is tingling
