I've got a terrible feeling DC will sign him. 3 goals in 96 games is the stat I've heard. That's not a promotion challenging striker's stats.
Absolutely; even I would be disappointed with those stats, and i'm almost 40 and 15 stone
You sure it isn't the other way round?

You are making my point for me. You are describing the CHANCES Taylor had. Chances that James doesn't get because his positional play isn't on the same planet as Taylor's or even the same planet as a striker worthy of the name. In a recent interview, DC said "we are playing Luke in a position he is not used to as a striker, but will come good".... Luke is following orders from DC and if DC is playing him out of his natural position then we know who to blame don't we...... when did DC say that though, early on in the season. If so, surely LJ should have come good by now. As far as I see it. we have has no other option since the snake left so LJ has had to play, DC could hardly publicly slate him when he is our only option.

I thought it was MS who said that, but whoever said it did so in the last few weeks, the only reason he's the only option is DC decided he was good enough when the snake departed. Thing is if his natural position is in the hole then why hasn't DC played him there for a game or two behind EH or RG? But even playing there isn't going to make it easier to score.

Come on let's get real, he is one of the worst strikers I have seen play in recent years.
Just my opinion.

Just watching Moneyball. Such a great film. Brad Pitt as Billy Beane creating a winning team out of misfits. Maybe this is what DC is doing - we just can't see the stat that LJ is bringing to the team. He makes the most completed passes in league one or something.

Do you, I'll leave it to DC.If he sees something in LJ,thinks he can do something with him, bring him on,so be it. In DC we trust.

I'll be dissapointed if LJ is retained next season. Hasn't looked likely to score since Matthew left.

Even if it's not his favoured position he'd still find himself getting goals in the course of a game, but he simply isn't a goalscorer. We have much better players who can play a deeper/supporting role,ie Bodin and Sinclair. All the other attacking players need replacing, it may be that some are retained as squad players, but James would be way down that pecking order.

I'm not usually very good at predicting these things, but I have a feeling that we won't be taking Peterborough up on the reported £200k option and signing him up.

Definitely a confidence thing though, James when he was scoring at Hartlepool probably finishes that chance last Saturday easily, rather than snatching at it like he did. The answer is probably for him to drop down a level and get some goals again, don't think another year here will do him much good.

Going to hold my hands up, I don't often back track but think I will now. Having watched Luke James in training yesterday, you can just see he isn't a natural striker at all and hasn't really learned the position, not making runs into the box or getting in the right positions, he seems too deep at times. I have backed him all the way, and he still has potential to be good in the future but with a heavy heart, I don't think we should sign him. Also every time Easter comes on for him in matches, his experience and composure over James is so telling. I will follow his career with interest though as I do like the bloke and his work rate has always been faultless. Maybe a season or 2 in the conference/league 2 is what he needs. Hang on, you had a go at me for coming to the same conclusion after watching him for over 7 months. You go to *ahem* "one training session"(does anyone really believe that btw..?) and you all of a sudden think the same..... Do tell us all what you have learned from this lesson? GasheadGaz is always correct? "You can guarantee the OP wouldn't have started this thread, had it not been for the missed penalty. What a shame that some can't wait to jump on a player's back." What a shame you couldn't wait to jump on a players back after *ahem* one training session...
