Was nice to see how he wrote in so much detail and affection about us in comparison to the 82'ers.

I don't know if anyone else has read his other Bristol match blog, and I don't think they come across as half as friendly, and he's not as impressed with the ground.

Hi Folks. Thanks for all your kind words. Ashton Gate had its positives - but give me tradition over modernity any day. pirateman : 20 years ago I may have put together this stuff into a book - but the internet has pretty much destroyed the market for such publications....unless you are VERY famous or VERY witty. scoobydoogas : It's called the Customer-is-always-right philosophy, I suppose. And it is not universally applied on these islands, let me assure you. mehewmagic : The programme was a great read (hence, me missing the opening goal). I really enjoyed your article – real affection and respect for Mark coming through. Indeed the programme was chock full of well-written historical pieces (which is where I tend to go first). How folks keep up the quality of writing over a full page and, indeed a full season, I am in awe of. My scribbles would barely fill a column. And I get a different club to write about with each entry. @antonio Fargas: Goodness, I had forgotten I had seen Rovers before. What a dispiriting afternoon that was, from a neutral's perspective. A case of Careful-what-you-wish-for with respect to a new stadium, I suppose. barumgas : I am not a pie-man, I am afraid. Or am, but attempting not to be, as am trying not to reach Infinite Mass. Good Luck at Coventry, this afternoon. Regards Ian

I agree with Ian's caption re our skull and cross bones flag. We have one of the best official nicknames and also probably the most woefully exploited. Half the clubs in the league would die for a nickname as good as ours. Ditch the gay pirate standing on a ball and give us a bloody skull and cross bones. It's no coincidence that the best cap badge in the British Army was the 17/21st Lancers:

What a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read, thank you!
Gave me a real sense of pride in being Bristolian, and more so than that, being a Gashead!

Nice read on Shrewsbury forum about yesterday's match day experience. Hope new stadium has some sort of 'fan mingling social food bar' type thing. Seriously need to pull the fans - home & visitors - in a couple of hours before kick off
