I would go along with this, although Ellis needs to shape up or be shipped out. I'm still in the camp of letting Ellis follow his dream elsewhere... Give Lucas a little run from the bench and see if he can chip in with a few goals.
yeah im not overly keen on Ellis, he has one game where he shows promise every 6 appearances. Maybe he needs a fresh club to push him on. He is one that could go on a run and be worth some money in the future, but if that's with us he has to have a consistent run of good games and score goals very soon.

Dosnt the ffp rules hold us back though? i havnt really read right through the rules but as i understand it we cannot generate enough income to compete with the likes of sheff utd, bolton and bradford on salary so we are as ever in the bargain bin.
There are ways around the FFP as creative owners have found out at other clubs
I'm surprised we haven't seen anything of the Jordan Bank being plastered round the ground...? Or even naming stands ect?

From the midfield, keep Lines, Clarke, Sincs, Bodin. From the forwards keep no one. (I mean keep a few as fringe players, if you really need to, but we're not gonna kick on with any of them as our main (or even first change) strike force. I'd keep Gaffers, I think he has a role still. I'm on the fence with Ellis. Wrong thread Hugo; This should be on training ground watch.

Its interesting the number of posters that want to replace most of the team or bring 8-12 players in especially as there is no evidence of an increased playing budget. I reckon we would be better off keeping most of the squad that know each other so well, including sweeney/lumley if at all possible and adding 2 strikers to the mix. Remember we simply cant afford someone like john akinde or ollie watkins at exeter so we have to hope that whoever is manager at the start of the season can find some bargain gems that come off. Yeah I agree, like I said in another post yesterday if we'd kept Taylor at the same time as improving our defence then I think we'd already be top six now. We're not a million miles off we just lost our best forward as we improved our defence so between January and now our position has stood still rather than improved. Bringing in 8-12 players and shipping out 8-12 players won't necessarily improve what we've got but it would almost certainly tear out the heart of a squad that's been amazing these last few years. I think DC will do what he always does , just make a few changes here and there to help us keep on improving as we've done so far.

Hey, he earned that contract by running around and making an assist.

Reasons to be cheerful.
1} The team at no stage was in a relegation dogfight. Some clubs pay tens of millions and still end up worrying about relegation near the end of the season...mentioning no names...Bristol city...oops. 2} The majority of players have coped pretty well with a step up in division {two steps in many cases} 3} The home form is excellent overall. 4} The target of 63+ points is still achievable 5} The manager is still here as are Yates and Stewart. 6} The training ground has been bought and work started. 7} UWE is still going ahead. 8} The Al qadi family are still being positive and proactive on taking the club forward in a sustainable manner. 9} Crowds have increased again. 10} Rovers are still on the up.

Yeah but apart from that? What did the Romans ever do for us?

We have only a reasonable squad that probably have performed above themselves to achieve the present position. To be chasing Play Offs next season we need the acquisition of about 8-12 quality players to not only be regular team members but also to keep players that are in the team on their toes. These acquisitions would only put the squad up to 24 players!! The trouble is that two of our best players at the moment and who have made the biggest difference (Sweeney and Lumley) are not ours. Personally I feel we need the following 1. THE NEW GROUND. 2. The following squad 1.Joe Lumley or New First Choice Goalkeeper 2.New Second choice keeper Release Puddy and Nildenhall 3.Leadbitter 4.Lockyer 5.Partington 6.Burn 7.Brown 8.New Centre back or Sweeney(very unlikely) 9.New Centre back to challenge 10.New Left back to challenge but not sure about Bob Harris as haven't seen enough of him. Release James Clarke and probably no chance of getting either Sweeney or Clarke Salter 11.New Winger 12.Montano 13.New Winger 14.Bodin Release Moore,Broom and Gosling Midfield 15.O Clarke 16.Lines 17.Sinclair 18.New CM 19.New CM Release Mansell Forwards 20.Gaffney 21.Harrison 22.New Forward 23.New Forward 24.New Forward Release Easter, James, Lucas, We will probably need a couple more loanees if the rules haven't changed as we had about 27 players at the start of this season. We were chasing play offs this season without those 8-12 quality players. More knee jerk stuff imo from you Steve which always ruins the credibility of what you are saying for me. In fact, with Lumley, Sweeney from the start of the season and the snake not leaving us, we would be in the play offs I'm very confident of that. 8-12 is a ridiculous statement.

By my reckoning that's 9 at least if we intend to challenge at the top end of the table. This game is not about if's & but's it's about reality.

nail and head come to mind with steve k post. On the money with the squad changes. I am hoping for an exciting summer where we bring in some quality players early on and show some intent.
Obviously ground news is what we all.wamt to hear, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.

No I don't From what I have seen over the last month DC has put a squad together that will compete well next season. Within that are two loan players and a definite need to replace our previous top scorer. How DC does that is beyond my knowledge. You? Or Steve? Really?? And don't talk about opinions, its not a god given right to talk sh**. But it is a right to be exposed for doing so.
