I think if the majority of young people voted ,then labour would always just pip the tories in the ballot ,you just have to think back a few decades a lot of first time voters were easily swayed by either the way thier family voted or swayed by lecturers at college or uni, those trends continue till today. I guess you will always have an aspect of the 18-24 age group thinking it doesnt matter, or doesnt effect them. Only aa you get older settle down, move out, have kids etc do you take more of an interest

yup i've always thought voting age should be late 20's on for that reason, yes i know very unpopular ,but by then most people will have a grip on just how hard it is to survive away from parents. what does worry me more people now demand a revote if it's a slim win/or loss depending on their bent. we have our way of voting it doesnt need changing simple as, or look at it another way someone won a hundred meter sprint, they would be upset and angry if they were told well 3 members of 1 family came second fourth and fifth so they win , just cant get my head around how so many want to change something that works for something that will weaken parliament even more, if they want weird voting rules, got to the us or zimbabwe

FPTP is okay, but it does throw up the idea that only 2 parties can ever really form a Government. To be fair the Lib Dems were establishing themselves as a viable 3rd option, until they imploded after the 2010 coalition. The SNP have become significant (essentially replacing the Libs) as Labour have imploded North of the border.
What I do find absurd is the SNP can get 50 odd seats but poll less than UKIP (who I have no love for) and that differing sizes of constituencies and what votes are actually needed to get seats

I'd imagine this may be the future of politics.

Well, the money`s going on the Conservatives this morning. 1/10 yesterday. Now 1/20. Labour were 6/1 yesterday. Now 8/1. If Labour do win, a few people are going to be poorer today. Rapidly followed by the rest of us.

It'll be a massive Tory landslide, but people suggesting betting markets are an indication of a result have learnt nothing.

Given what`s happened recently, it wouldn`t be a massive shock to me, if Jihadi Jeremy prevails today.

Exit Poll Con 314 Lab 266 SNP 34 Lib 14 But who knows How convenient. I guess that makes for a better discussion on tv. As we all know, 90% of polls are made up!

did anyone else notice that at the polling station that your card reflected a number and then they found your paper which had the number on the back....
so anonymity is pretty much dead then....
very dodgy

I think it's just you PG and a few other suspects who might know you! Thank goodness for Nicola, at least one female managed to F##k up more than Theresa. Ruthy baby for PM n.b Other political views are available.

So, that Tory landslide...
Regarding the young, I doubt it's the same today as it's always been. Corbyn engaged with the young and gave them reasons to vote Labour, May also gave them countless reasons to vote Labour. Social media has made it a different world and allowed young people to form their own opinions of what policies suit them and will be best. I didn't vote the same as my parents and neither did a lot of people I know. It's a different generation.
I've stayed up all night with others my age watching it all unfold, a couple of years ago I wouldn't have been interested or voted and that was the case with most young, but we now realise only we can vote for our future. Corbyn has done a fantastic job whatever you think of him to finally get people engaged in politics.
