Bristol Rovers ramp up security for Millwall clash
April 24, 2017 John Kelly
BRISTOL Rovers will deploy extra stewards and have increased their security operations ahead of Millwall’s trip to The Memorial Stadium next Sunday.
The Lions have sold their full allocation of 1,279 tickets for the fixture as Millwall aim for the win that will guarantee them a play-off place.
Rovers have sold over 11,000 tickets, meaning the contest will be a sell-out for the first time this season.
Bristol Post are reporting that there will be an increased police presence inside and outside the stadium.
"We will have an additional 30 stewards against Millwall compared to our usual number," the club’s Safety Officer Dave Parker told the newspaper.
"It looks set to be a sell-out crowd, but it's an all-ticket match so we should know how many people will be coming to the stadium."
"There will be police on duty from early in the morning, and this match is a designated police match.”
Rovers, who saw their play-off hopes dashed after their defeat to Peterborough last weekend, are also in contact with Millwall over arrangements for players to greet fans after the final whistle of the last game of the regular League One season.
While it is traditional for players from the home side to do a lap of honour after their last game of the season, Millwall could also be celebrating clinching sixth.
"We've spoken to Millwall about the possibility of their players coming out to see their fans after the match,” Parker said. “We're waiting to hear back from them. Of course, we would only be able to do it if it was safe to do so.”

On their forum they seemed to imply there's a fair few of them in the Blackthorn, hence it suddenly selling out.

We are surrounded so we'd better surrender or better still not go. Ffs just go to the game and hope we p*ss on their parade. What are people getting wound up about?

Keep Jed Wallace quiet and we should do okay. Would be worth keeping them down to try and sign him for next season!

Might be leaving in one at the end of it.

Say Millwall offered the club ,you know just to keep the books straight,£10,000 for the teams to walk out to the theme music of Eastenders, making there players feel more at ease , should the club take the money?

It was normal for them to come in the Tote back in the day. We'd have been disappointed if they didn't!

Given both teams form of late, maybe the Steptoe and Son theme tune would be more apt?
I might actually watch the beam back from The Den, in the hope I can watch a decent away performance for once

the only bit of this i take care to bother about is the expectation of poorly paid, poorly trained stewards to be expected to 'deal' with any trouble....
there's some sound yellow clad guys at the mem who are more than capable of crowd management, but if it does go wrong i for one won't be expecting them to risk losing a tooth....

I hope they come in togas like WBA did. Men in togas crying at the side of the road outside Twerton as we left was strangely amusing. The funniest bit though was when Keith (can't remember how to spell his surname) read out the wrong score to make them think they had stayed up for a brief moment (we were all on the pitch by then), only to correct himself and confirm their relegation. To this day I'm certain it was deliberate (unless I've remembered that all wrong!).
