Decent base to build from.
Got a bit of everything in there. Now need a bit more of everything, some of it vital improvements.

Would like to see Rowan Ince brought in from Brighton.
Great defensive midfielder and would work great with Lines and Ollie Clark in front of him (Beard on the bench).
He was out on loan at Swindle from Jan and made a big difference to them in the 13 games he played.
With Brighton going up I suspect he will be available but too good for League 2 so doubt Swindon will get him even though they want to.
Thompson from Swindle may also be available (although Beard did a great job on him at the Mem getting in his face)

DC must be very confident that he is getting in the players he wants. To tell 8 players their services are no longer required is a big gamble but no doubt in my mind it will pay off. The last time we had a squad shake up like this my favourite Rovers manager ever Paul Buckle was at the helm

Already this early?
If that's correct that's incredible seeing the season hasn't even finished yet.
Be interesting to see how soon the first one comes in. Would be nice to have the squad he wants all together through pre-season and the first game.

You may be looking for 4/5 New strikers ! absolutely no guarantee those who have been offered deals will accept them.

I understand contracts expire at the end of June so new players can't be signed until then. So no baying for blood if there aren't any signings before this time. Have patience So 13 players from last season who either played or not as in Gosling case no longer on the books. 5 existing players offered new contracts so assuming they all sign (but maybe not if wages no high enough.) So the nucleus of the team who got us to 10th position still in place and under contract. There are 4 players on loan who have not been mentioned as they cannot sign until July anyway even if they are staying either as loan or permanent. I take it for granted most fans would like to see Lumley and Sweeney signed preferably as permanent players but if not as 12 month loans again. James and Clarke-Salter both doubtful in many eyes I think So who and which position does Clarke need to sign to bolster our chances of improving on this years league position. Will it be players from leagues below or from the Championship list below? Will Mr Al Qadi deliver a playing budget for any of these assuming Mr Clarke fancies any of them and they take a punt on dropping a division? www.bolton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=489665

A natural left footed midfielder wouldn't go a miss now Monty's going. I personally would like to see someone in who's better than Lines - a 6 -10 goal midfielder - Otzumer from Walsall comes to mind. I'd be very happy if we got those 6 players in who would make the match day squad of 18.

I would have thought we need a new LB over another CB? Wingers wise I assume it depends on whether DC sees Broom as 1st squad player or not? Plus what RW is going to dislodge BB from that slot if he continues this season's form. Wage budget wise we need 1st teamers in the following positions: Goalie/Lumley CH/Sweeney CM/Mansell LW/Monty Strikers x 2/Snake/Easter So 5 or 6 big signings if top 6 really is the target?

Maybe we've given Ellis a deal with the hope of getting a fee before September. On paper he could look like an improver with his size, aerial ability and sporadic scoring record.
