So, we don't actually have a keeper then. Nor any games, fortunately ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I would be extremely happy if we were able to get lumley again for next season , excellent young keeper with bags of potential, will only get better.

Norwich have released John Ruddy. Will probably get another Championshipclub but a ruddy good 'keeper nevertheless.

Hodges as it stands hasnt been offered a deal if what i read/understood is correct, our scholarship program has 16 players, non of whom were Hodges and there is no in-between so i think he is gone
Mildy as said before has been offered a coaching role only, no player role so he is likely gone unless as stated he rejects and asks for a player role
Puddy is gone/going at the end of his contract (31st june 2017)
So right now, we have 2 on the books but neither have been offered a deal so will be gone come July

Apart from the lad that went to Arsenal who we never got to see, we have a very poor record at producing our own keepers!
Ryan Clarke and.....err..
Bristol City don't seem to have fared much better in this department either, maybe its a problem in this part of the world (Jack Butland aside!)

Is The Ipswich -ex City bloke still a possibility? Gherkin or something.

Obviously the ideal situation is to have three keepers on the books- (i) the up and coming (ii) the man at the peak of his powers (iii) the old pro.
If Milders accepts the coaching role does this preclude him from playing if and when required and being (iii) above?
If fit I wouldn't mind seeing him between the sticks a few more times.

If Mildy is a player/ coach then from what I understand his wages count towards the EFL wages cap but if he is coach they do not. So I guess it's unlikely to be player/coach unless DC is willing for his wages to come out of the playing budget.

We've had so little luck trying to recruit a decent goalkeeper, the chances of getting 2 or 3 now looks unlikely. If we get Lumley plus one other I'll be happy.

Right at the start of the Lee Mansell interview a couple of days ago, he mentions that both he and 'Stevie' would be "hanging up their boots" so unlikely to see either of them in a Rovers shirt again, I guess.

Bristol City don't seem to have fared much better in this department either, maybe its a problem in this part of the world (Jack Butland aside!) is it poor, or is it average? How many league teams currently have a home grown keeper as their no. 1? Hint, there's one in the premier league, and his team's just been relegated...

If we sign Gherkin, we'll be in a right pickle.

If we sign Gherkin, we'll be in a right pickle. We loaned a player a few years ago called Guy Branston .Aptly named as we loaned him from Aldershot whilst we were 91st in the league and they were the only club below us.We were in a right (Branston) pickle then.Think Buckle or McGhee were in charge at the time.

Scored in his first game early on against Bradford I think in a 3-3 draw. He was pretty awful after.

Branston was the ultimate journeyman pro, playing for 20 different clubs over his career and aside from a spell with Rotherham in his early 20s, he didn't play over 50 League games for anyone.
