Yep, it suggests you're looking for an issue that doesn't seem to be there Nope, I'm just saying that sprinting isn't his game, so criticising him for not doing it isn't fair.

DC said tonight he expects all the players offered new contracts to sign them, if you think he's not telling the truth that's up to you. What planet are you on - you're now suggesting I think DC's a liar. How dare you!!! Think you need to go back and read all you posts on this thread, you've said DC's just back from Florida but he told GT he's going on holiday later this summer. DC also said he expects all the players offered contracts to sign, you've said you expect one of the strikers offered a contract to leave.

we had six. harrison, gaffney, taylor, easter, james, lucas Yeah - you're right - but Lucas was on non league loan all season and was never considered as 1st team material and James was only brought in because MT was expecting to move on. If MT was under contract it was highly unlikely that James would have been brought in. The four remaining after MT left contributed between them circa 18 league goals between them. not a bad return goals wise to be fair.

I understand he wants another 3 forwards on top of Gaffney and Harrison. DC said Gaffney wasn't a million miles away from signing his contract offer. Interesting he wasnt happy with two players away at Shrewsbury, and took them off at HT. The GPS tracker showed neither had made a sprint in the first half. (Colkett and Boateng) Did Lines sprint at all last season? Yes ..and quite often with the ball at his feet at the same time...something some of the other players found more difficult. The fact that he's got enough sense to know when and where to run is what makes him better than half the headless chickens we had in midfield consistently in the past

Do you actually know DC didn't go to Florida? He went for a week - ask him if it concerns you - not that it's any of your business. I only expressed an OPiNION not a Fact right from the start about the two strikers and because it doesn't align with what you think, it's wrong - correct? Get this straight Topper - because you spend half your life posting nearly 9000 messages in three years years you don't own the forum.

By the sound of it either Harrison or Gaffney or both will be on their way. The players themselves will feel uncomfortable with what he has said because neither do very well at anything he said he wants out of the three front players. Will be very surprised if both are with us next season - doesn't look as though they are in his plans, particularly if he gets the players in he wants. (Colkett and Boateng) Im never "in the know" but i bumped into steve yates and bravely started to chat to him,he said boateng only put effort into training and matches when he was in the right mood and that wasnt often enough and told other players he was a "premiership" player. He also said that the chelsea loan players never headed the ball in training at chelsea but had to at rovers.

Not sure what point you're trying to make, it sounds like Gaffney will probably sign his contract so what signs are they that he's "uncomfortable", perhaps he just feels he can get a better deal out of DC than JC as he's a striker we paid £50K+ for not just a defender we got on a free, who's probably over the moon he got any contract offer from us. I think Gaffney should be over the moon frankly that he's been offered anything. Whether we payed £50k or not doesn't make a blind bit of difference - we didn't pay a bean for BB or DL or CL so that argument doesn't stack up. I did say "maybe suggests" - I don't know more than anyone else but there will additional two strikers extra on the books now that MT has left - both were not regulars last season whilst MT was here. We had three strikers at the start of last season (I think) - he's looking to bring three new in - doesn't that suggest something? It suggests he wants 5 strikers just like last season i guess?

Possibly not - Luke James was only taken on because MT was messing the club around during the close season and was expected to leave - which would have left 4 strikers - forget Lucas he was never in the equation. It could be argued that Easter was not an out and out striker more an attacking midfield player - who knows so maybe 4 is the optimum number plus all the wide players he'll have if he gets them all in. Exciting times!!

I got the impression he was nearly there on signing gaffney and optimistic about all the players who were offered new deals but you never know so it will be interesting to see if rory and ellis sign.

You think 18 league goals over a season in total is a fair return for 4 strikers? The four (alleged) strikers - Gaffney - Harrison - Easter & James, with four of those goals coming in one match v Northampton. The original post wasn't well worded (my dyslexia and English grammar) should not have included "after MT".

Anyway away from the school playground pulling hair! Was interested that DC said he is going for strikers that scored a dozen goals last season, but hit the target on a shots ratio meaning they could possibly be a new 20 goal a season striker, obviously that would have ruled out Ricky Miller, probably wants better value, and not be in a bidding war. Think we will be surprised at who we sign, he sounds buoyant and as everybody has mentioned what a fantastic man we have leading us, thanks John ward.

Aren't we always surprised by who he signs, Sweeney and Lumley for example

When we signed Ricky Lambert he was pretty much an unknown journeyman. He turned into that wonderful specimen at Rovers. I am ready to be shot down in flames but I seriously think that Rory Gaffney will come good this coming season. He has undoubted skill, pace and a powerful physical presence, a bit like Lambert, but seemed woefully lacking in confidence last season. He misses Lambert deadball abilities, or needs to develop them.
I hope does anyway.

Looks like we could be looking at conference strikers then... www.bbc.com/sport/football/national-league/top-scorers
