Hmm, its a bit convenient for me how City were the only one ones willing to 'take a punt' on someone who was set to score over 20 goals again.
As for Billy, he has repaid us over the last couple of years for taking a chance and being patient with him, so doesn't owe us anything more imo. If his head gets turned over the summer then he will be off....we all know what agents are like! You just hope that if it does happen then we get the best possible deal for him.
A cheap sell so soon after the Taylor move would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Why would it be inevitable? I like to think that the new ownership will bring about a change in mindset. Selling your best players is a pretty flawed strategy if you have genuine plans to progress. I guess that all depends what we're offered, that's even if we get an offer, anything above £1m would have to be seriously considered if BB won't sign a contract extension meaning he will be able to leave on a free next summer. Although not sure how Oxford managed to get £3m for Kemar Roofe last summer given he was then only proven in Div 2.

...and the teds will potentially pay 1.6 million for O'Dowda who wasn't even proven at L2 level!!...albeit he is 3 years younger than BBB.

I'd be surprised if there is not interest from other clubs in Billy. I really hope he stays but if he wants a move then there is little the club can do apart from negotiating a good fee. Hope we try to extend his contract and if he does not want to then selling might be in the interest of the club to avoid him running down his contact and so reduce the fee. Lets hope he stays and does not decide the move in the last days of the transfer window and leaving us struggling to replace Apart from retaining a contracted player to the club?! We hold the cards until that contract ends. To our knowledge, he doesn't have a release fee so it's certainly not a case of him deciding when he leaves whilst under contract. True but holding on to a player who wants to move-on can cause quite a bit of difficulty for a club and can impact on individual form and the team more generally, few managers want players in their squad who don't want to be there. Anyway all hypothetical as nothing to suggest BB is unhappy or looking for a move.

Has there got to be blame? Absolutely, you must know by now that we as fans operate a completely "blame free culture". Sack the Board/Manger/Fans Director and uncle tom cobbledy and all If a serious offer was tabled and it was good for the Club and player, then I for one would be disappointed but not blame anyone. You forgot about the Bing Bong man

To say that you wouldn't consider selling one player for any sum of money is just ridiculous and it's something you can only really say if you're one of the best and one of the richest clubs in the world. If we get offered a deal and DC and Wael decide between them that for the same money they can get 3 quality players to help get us promoted then how is that not good business for the club? The thing I often worry about is that a club can waste that money on sh**e players, but I'm confident with DC at the helm, we're always going to get value for money. UTG!

Would be seriously disappointed to lose Billy .... for me it would question our own ambition. No words from DC would convince me that we couldn't have kept him .... we would seriously need to bring in some very high quality to replace ... I know it's only conjecture but my buoyant mood of pushing on next season is starting to be seriously tested with these types of post !, Take a look at the modern history of football. Any player that gets the chance to play at a bigger club in a higher league on much better money tends to go for it. Thats the way its worked for years, even man utd have to sell if real madrid come knocking so any half decent championship club or even a bigger league 1 club will get him as long as there prepared to pay.

Very true and I think it's only a matter of time before a championship club comes in for him, hopefully we'll bring some good players in over the summer and hit the ground running and win promotion because that's the only way you hold on to your best and even then it's often not enough.
