"Bath City is pleased to announce the signing of Jamie Lucas following his release by Bristol Rovers. The 22-year old striker has had limited opportunities at Rovers during their rapid promotion success but has developed in loan spells at Weston-super-Mare, Gloucester City, Boreham Wood and Woking. He has shown he has an eye for goal and had an outstanding record at this level while at Weston.
Manager Gary Owers sees Jamie as a young, hungry player who wants to score goals saying, “there was interest in him from several clubs but he wanted to play at Bath”.
We look forward to welcoming him once pre-season commences and to seeing him in a City shirt."
Good luck for the future Jamie.

Good luck to him. A hard-working genuine ol'skool CF. I hope he does well at Bath and works his way back 'up the ladder'.

Good signing for Bath, scored goals on loan in the league above over the last couple of seasons. Good luck to him and the club.

Danny Greenslade signed for WSM - both him & Lucas drop into Conference South which answers the questions "why didn't DC give them a chance".

Lucas should score a hatful at that level and get a decent move to a league 2 club. Good luck to him. Always thought he carried a bit too much timber though, certainly for league football. Just hope he knuckles down at Bath

Yeah we got a unknown Jordanian youngster to replace him - top signing Danny Greenslade 23yo Jamie Lucas 22yo both been around the first team squad for 3/4 years - the Jordanian lad is 18yo, we don't know how good he is, direct comparison is rather tricky I would suggest but it seems that DC didn't think Greenslade or Lucas would make it whereas the Jordanian lad is being given a chance to show he might.

The best bit is that those who are slagging off the signing of a youth player from Jordan will be crying for more if he's any good. Lucas probably didn't show enough at Boreham Wood to suggest he was able to make the immediate step up, he'll get games at Bath so fingers crossed he does well.

Tom Lockyer is about the same age, and has been a first team regular for 4 years. If they were good enough, don't you think DC would be playing them both?

I only wonder why they have left it so long to decide Greenslade wasn't good enough?

Good signing for Bath. He scored plenty of goals when at that level with WSM and I expect him to do the same again. Good luck to him.

I would guess he has been showing promise in trainig/reserve matches. They have probably now decided its not worth using up budget on a 23 year old who still hasnt broken into the side. Did he play a first team game?

I sometimes wonder how any owner could look upon us well. Back to back promotion, training ground, players being fed and treated professionally and more but the impatience and near hostility due to nothing but keeping a dignified quiet, until tangible information can be given, is just crap. There used to be a big difference between the 82 & us. I think too many are reading bristol post comments and buying into it. It's as if there is now the same feeling of entitlement that they have. Calm down and maybe good things will happen. All the years of incompetence don't get undone in 1.5 seasons

Watched the lad Lucas play well tonight for 45 minutes and score 2 for Weston-super-Mare in a crazy game against a strong Forest Green side that finished 6-6!!!
Ben Swallow also played well for Weston and scored one and assisted one for Lucas.
Best player on the pitch was a young winger loanee from Brentford Theo Archibald (scored 2) playing for FGR, closely followed by Dale Grubb who scored one. Dodge got a hat-trick (2 pens).
Just thought I'd update you on the progress of a couple of former players who played well. I think if Lucas performs like he did tonight he could score quite a few in the National League South this season.

I reckon he will do well there.

When I watched FGR vs Yeovil last season, their defence was absolutely shocking...doesn't sound like anything has changed! I'm surprised they kept Copper on to be honest. I would have got rid of him a while ago.

I reckon he will do well there. You could be right and I certainly hope so. You couldn't fault his effort here, but it just didn't work out for him. He looked a very good player for Hartlepool and maybe the move home can get his career back on track. I think Hartlepool have made some very good signings and will do ok this season. Liam Noble and Andrew Davies could probably do a job in League One (definitely League Two) and I'm excited to see how Niko Muir does for them after he scored 40 last season for Hendon.
