Not directly related but I see some of the Gulf states are ostracising Qatar over their involvement in certain 'things'. Could be a deception taking some flak off Saudi Arabia, but either way what are the chances of the 2022 World Cup still being staged there? Best the US or Australia get prepared.

I am interested in this. Probably more so because I traveled through their last year to be honest but this seems like quite a big thing. I am worried where this is going.

I would previously been against old bill on the ground being armed, but now I think this needs to be implemented.
At the very least all beat coppers should have a Taser to incapacitate
Firearms teams are great and all, but in the time for them to respond how many are lost including their own?
How many lives could at armed first responding copper save?

Well, here is a starter. In Saudi Arabia, all sermons given by Immans in all Mosques is recorded so the authorities can listen to what is being preached.

Shame about the shoot to kill order. I'm sure the families of those affected would love to look after the bastards. This will go on and on until some serious action is taken. To be fair, shooting them dead is fairly serious. Hardly makes them suffer though does it.

4th June 1940 "We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We will never surrender"
4th June 2017 "Run, hide, tell".

It takes a certain type of person to become a firearms officer, it wouldn't be appropriate for all to be armed and I would suspect many police would not like it either. In this incident, it was 8 minutes from raising the alarm to discharging 50 rounds and killing three terrorists. That is really quick under the circumstances and I doubt a general PC would have been there much quicker. My concern is would Avon and Somerset (for example) be able to match The Met in time or experience, meaning outside London and possibly Manchester and Birmingham, there is a weakness that could be exploited.

An ex copper was on Radio 5 yesterday and he put it as this. it wasn't 8 minutes it was 480 seconds, it takes 3 seconds to stab someone.
Perhaps not all officers should be armed, but I would have thought it is almost inevitable in the major cities.
Even if it isn't 'lethal' weapons (obviously Tasers can be dangerous), I would have though more Tasers at the very least has to come in.

Laws have to be changed, and pretty quickly. If they can change the law quickly concerning the streaming of content from the Internet via a Kodi box, and threaten you with 10 years in prison, I'm pretty sure that people being vapourized or having their throats cut is a much more important reason to change the law quickly!
If Paedos are caught with disturbing images of children on their phones or laptops, then that is a criminal offence (quite rightly). They can then be locked up. That person may not have actually committed any offences against children, but by being in the possession of those images it is sufficient to find them guilty. The same should apply to any terrorist propaganda videos or pictures.

I don't think the four points she mentioned will achieve much............yep, let's be firm against those nasty Internet companies eh !

I hear that one of the terrorists actually previously appeared on a TV documentary about extremism and was arguing with a copper after being accused of flying an ISIS flag. Why the f**k was this w**ker not shot on the spot at the time?

How many lives could at armed first responding copper save? I agree with arming all officers with taser. That's more realistic. Though there will be many who wouldn't want to carry one. Many may not pass the training. So when you talk about all officers having firearms... The amount of armed coppers in London on standby is quite impressive. But remember extra have been recruited as they are expected to lose their lives when first on scene at a 'mumbai-style' attack which is the main type of attack they are trained for. Yes we are getting knife attacks at the moment and I think people are under the wrong impression they would be 'easier' to deal with (I dont use that term lightly) by a normal lone beat bobby with a firearm who happens to be round the corner, but it wont just be knife attacks in future. And there's a reason firearms officers work in 3's.
