The club have organised a band after the Millwall game.
"Simply Ska" will be appearing in the Clubhouse. Perfect for any fans of the Specials, Madness, the Selector, Beat etc.
And it is a Bank Holiday the next day, so we can eat, drink and be merry and (Quite a few people) will not have to get up early for work the next day.
Well done to the club.

Item 1 Charles Buchan monthly magazine's and folder.
Again kindly donated so no cost to the club, but Jamie have said these are in very good quality, especially when you consider they are around 40 years old.
For youngsters you can read what it was like when England were the World Champions! and can marvel at the pictures of the pre-seating stadiums.
Item 2 A Rovers Beanie Bear. I think the Beanie craze was very popular around 5-10 years ago, so this might be popular with a non Rovers fan who wants to add to their collection.
For Rovers fans, could be a good chance to give as a present to their better half or child.
Bidding ends next Sunday tea time-ish. Google Bid on the Side Bristol Rovers Supporters Club for a link.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.

Any donations can be made at any time.
If anyone has any decent non football related items they can be used for the raffle at a general knowledge quiz ( next one Thurs 20 April).
If the items are specifically for the tombola or Bid on the Side just mention that they are for Dave and I am sure that they will quickly ask me to pick them up. (Especially due to the lack of space and post season stock takes).
Many thanks for the donations over the years and the entries in the tombola. I might try and get THREE new shirts as prizes for this years Fun Day, rather than the usual one home and one away shirts in the previous tombola's.

I know it doesn't have the same ring as Last of the Mohicans, Tango in Paris, Supper or even Summer Wine, but after organising the tombola at the Fun Day for x number of years, I think this will be the last one I do, due to work and family commitments etc, plus it would be nice to attend a fun day and have a pint and a pie in peace!(usually the day starts at 6 to get the stuff transported to the men, double checked and put on display).
Glad to say since taking over Ralph Ellis, I have never made a loss and probably at least 30 people have won brand new shirts for £1 or £2 entry.
If anyone out there has any Rovers related items, or football in general that they no longer require, please pass them on to the SC matchday hut, the SC portacabin, two mile hill rd or pirate leisure. Good condition books, DVDs, hat scarfs or other merchandise would be great.thanks.
If the item might be worth a bit more than the £2 tombola entry, it will be put on the Bid on the Side.

Why not have a FFS meet up in the summer. How about the England v Scotland game (June 10th?). If it is held at the Mem, a few players can be invited and the club can profit from the bar takings and food.

The Chesterfield BotS is a set of Pro star cards from the early 90's. I think it was an American company that wanted to introduce baseball style dealing cards to England to rival the Pannini and Figurini sticker market. It features a full colour card and pen pic for a few players from every club in the league.
The Rovers players featured are Ian Hazel. Tony Pounder, Justin Skinner and Big Dev. Also in their respective team colours were Gary Mabbutt, Nigel Martyn, Ollie, John Taylor, Dennis Bailey, Garry Thompson, Wally Walters and Billy Bodin's Dad.
Again, this item has been donated, so no cost to the club and may mean that we get bids from non Rovers fans. If anyone is going to the programme and merchandise fayre at the Men tommorrow, please mention this. You never know a full set may be worth something.

A fair point but we have raised approx £700 since the beginning of last season.
Some people's pockets might not stretch to the £90+ we received for the Bristol blue glass 125th anniversary paperweight or the £60+ we received for a very rare Away shirt last season
The fact is the rugby ball keyrings were donated, so cost nothing and at present we are likely to get approx £3.50 from someone who is not a Rovers fan.
There could well be a young Saints fan who would appreciate a signed pic from England's no 1 Fraser Forster, so again if it sells for £1, it is pure profit. At least Fraser made the effort to make a donation following our request. PS how many Rovers fans have any signed items from a Rovers player, who also has played for England? - we have a Rickie signed item ready for next season.
I have a few ideas in the pipeline for unusual items for next season, but have to wait and see if the club agree.
Of course if anyone has a Glos Cup winners medal from the 1900's, an original Eastville Rovers shirt, Alan Ball's WC final boots, or the replica Watney Cup (if there was one?), then please feel free to pass it on to the SC.
Any donations are welcome. If we done feel we are likely to make £2 profit it will go to the tombola at the Fun Day. Thanks

Keith and the team received the deserved praise for another excellent programme.
Just by having the top programme award mentioned on the cover, I was able to sell more yesterday to people who do not normally buy programmes.
How do people think it can be improved?
I know some people who would like a stats page showing each players total appearances and goals for the club.
Others would like a Pirate related cover like the Pirate ships design of the Twerton era, to make it more unique.
Reading some threads on here about the lack of advertising, personally I think a monthly diary would be a good idea. It could list the clubs forthcoming games in one place for first team, development, youth etc, together with events at the stadium and the community scheme activities.
Some events seem to be preached to the converted, so you only hear about them afterwards. (Ie I saw something about the Gas network arranging an evening with Dave Pritchard but can't remember anything in the programme or on the official website beforehand).
Things like the Tote End Reunion could also get a mention.
Recent threads mentioned non match day revenue and the FFP. Personally, I do not know what counts towards this or not, but surely, if an event is being held anyway, a bit of advertising to boost attendance's (helping to increase bar takings/monies raised from raffles etc) has got to be a good thing?
Anyway re the programme any suggestions?

Today's BotS features a collection of souvenir papers from 2007 as Rovers got to the Millennium in the JPT and Wembley to win the play off final. (If you can't remember Sammy's finish just crossing the line turn up to the SC bar after the game as this features in the Screen Soccer intro). There are some great pics in the papers with Rickie's rocket v Basso, the blue invasion of Cardiff and the council house.
See today's program for more details, or Google jfhgas on ebay

Bid on the side is a feature on the SC pages in the programme. Fans can donate items to be put on eBay with the profits going towards the 50/50 fund.
I don't have a PC so have to borrow my step daughters phone to advertise on the forums, but have managed to get a thread going for the better items on the other forum and get at least one mention on this forum.
Last year we raised over £350 and have raised over £250 this season.
See the SC website or search JFHGas on eBay to get the latest links. This week there are 4 items;
SC brochure for Watney Cup anniversary
Six stickers book featuring Gary Penrice and Keith Curle
A signed pennant from the Graydon management era
A signed share scheme tee shirt signed by players from an away game early this season.
Happy bidding!

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the famous Watney Cup Victory the SC in conjunction with Screen Soccer invited ex players to reminisce about the game.
A souvenir brochure was produced and today's BOTS features a brochure
The other item is a orange schare scheme tee shirt signed by one of the squads from an away game earlier this season (ie while both Chelsea boys and Matty Taylor were at the club.)

Item 1 A signed pennant (possible share scheme era ie Andy Rammell?
Item 2 Six stickers books featuring interviews with Gary Penrice and Keith Curle.
The writer though he completed his sticker album but decides to have personal up to date photos of the players inc Penny and Keith.
A good read and interesting to hear of life at Rovers in the 80's, the players comparisons with top level football in the early 90s and in the recent post Prem era.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.
