"Got my kit in the car ready to go. Pressure is a privilege". So refreshing from a pro footballer.
seems like a cherpy geezer, although I'm not too sure but I got the impression he thinks we will grow into the season but need to be more clinical.

Clark is the right man for the job.
Don't know enough about the board to pass judgment on the running of the club. But from the stats, the closure of the OF, and the mixed communication I would say the club isn't being run to its potential. I have met Higgs and he seems passionate albeit a long time ago. I don't pretend to know any inside information so don't really know what goes on. What I do know is this is the poorest our club has ever performed. Gutted!!

Whilst against the stronger teams I think scoring will be a problem I have a feeling that we will hit 3,4 & 5 against some of the weaker teams and IF DC finally manages to get the winger and striker he is after then I think we have a good chance in the bigger games. IMO the Board shgould have made his job a bit easier before the first game by ensuring that we got the players he has his eye on at the moment.I am sure a decent winger on saturday would have brought us the three points and the same may be true tomorrow night. Continual failure to agree a price for the loan player and striker will cost us points and in the end that will end up costing the Board more. Exactly Steve! true but the board can't really roll over to high demands. There must be a cut off point at witch the club say 'we can't afford this'. Alternatively we could just end up with a load of highly paid unfit crocks like last season.

Did anyone else kinda get the feeling that the BT sport pundits had it in for us a bit. It seemed like they supported Grimsby but couldn't admit it because they were on TV. Maybe it was just me. I felt exactly the same - it seemed as though they had been hoping we'd come a cropper in our first game. for me it was like watching a Grimsby local commentary team. Not bothered tho. We look different on TV than we do from the west stand haha.

Disagree they slagged off our pitch fairly and said we played long ball fairly. Other then that i didnt hear anything negative other then the nonsense from Barry Bradshaw. :-) yeah whilst I agree what they were saying was true, Grimsby were worse than than us but the emphasis seemed to be more on us and how we were under performing. Maybe it's because were the conference new boys, I dunno.

Can I just say that I'm absolutely appalled by the service at the men yesterday, no pasties what so ever, not even able to get my hands on a snickers. I for one shall not be watching Bristol rovers on BT sport ever again. You would have thought that BSS would at least deliver some to my gaff.

Good post merthyrgas, I didnt think we looked particularly quick, the log ball game became noticeable but over all im quite pleased with what I saw, work in progress for sure, based on last seasons efforts it was refreshing to see players looking like they gave a sh*t! Niether team wanted to lose yesterday I think that had a big bearing on the game, gonna stick my neck out and say we will be fine. I have no doubt we will be fine, for me the game started to show snippets of what I believe DC wants from his team. I'm confident we will pick up steam as the season progresses. I don't know if it was because the game was televised but the players showed some real drive.

Ok, so watched the game on 'pak India TV' app, can't remember who posted this on here but it worked flawlessly, good stuff. So in my opinion there has been a noticeable improvement of the professionalism of the squad, most of the lads looked fit especially parks, and brunt put in a decent shift. The main noticeable change from last season is passion, they all worked real hard the effort level was clear to see, especially Sinclair who must have covered more miles than a London cabbie, looks a decent signing. Defensively looked sound throughout the game and let's be fair Grimsby didn't really look like scoring, however neither did we. McCrystal had a good fame and brown looks somewhat umproved. The main positives for me were some of our passing looked sharp especially some of the one touch routines seen in the last 20mins or so. There was a bit more long ball than I would have liked but I think when you struggle to create clear chances like we did today then players of this level with always revert back to 'route one' football when running out of ideas, That's not to say I thought we were a completely blunt sword, we just need to improve our final pass/move to something like the ball that put who I thought was Taylor through on goal (correct me if I'm wrong). All in all looks like we got a decent squad with a good mix of youth and experience, this was the first time I saw some of our new boys in play so seems to me like Clark has done some good business. Like so many others though I feel we need another striker and an out an out winger who is able to take on players and deliver a good ball into the box. The only big concern of the game was Ollie Clarke made quite a few mistakes when he came on. My final thought based on this one game only so don't take it too seriously...our squad looks improved and there is definitely more passion and effort but the lack of a goal threat is concerning, we look like we are gonna be hard to beat this season but also look like it's gonna be hard to beat others. However I'm optimistic things are going to improve. UTG !!!

just because I live in Merthyr doesn't mean I'm welsh, so there is no reason to ban me sir! Sorry it does as soon as you live among those related to the french your name is removed from all official documentation and any referance to bristol is stricken from the world, you sir are now an official sheep pilfering surrender monkey, oh spose id better also say erm welcome back haha I have always wondered why my family back in Bristol constantly abuse me for "being welsh" this explains it. However it's not a good predicament to be in because I also get abuse from the welsh for being English. I feel like I'm in a kind of limbo, or purgatory. Bit like the gas at the moment haha.

In all fatness I applaud their effort, at least it's not violence. Don't get me wrong the timing is poor but so long as it can be removed without damaging the gates the I think it's harmless banter. Who ever did it probably didn't think about the WW1 centenary. This sort of stuff doesn't phase me unless it leaves permanent damage. I think we are overreacting a little bit. Il go get my tin hat. I agree, but that doesn't excuse the fact that they are all complete sh*t bags.. tottally haha

Cant wait for the season to start so we can talk about actual football again. If the season turns out to be anything like the last few, I imagine we'll be harking back to the good old days of when we had no football to discuss! threads like this

All joking aside I had been viewing the forums since the OF shut down, both where moving quite slowly so it's was quite hard to choose between this and the 'nasty forum', anyways I recognise more usernames on this one so decided to Register here. I'm no rose tinter but the other independent forum seems a little hostile haha. You are allowed to join both. You can go there and criticise the Board and the rose-tinters on here who are mainly responsible for our demise, and get lots of likes, then come on here and criticise the miserable Rovers-hating cynics over there and post pictures of bears, and get lots of likes. That way, everyone loves you. Win-Win. wow that's awesome, it's so much harder to be two faced in real life, but with this keyboard I can do it all yay. I have signed and read the other forum, I just don't post on it, I feel that this one is a little more light hearted. However I respect what some of the mor knowledgable poster have to say.

Welcome aboard sir. This forum is so good, the Evening Post use it as a primary source of information. Can we use that as a tag line? haha I did see, I wonder if I will get an article in the BP for being the OFs most remembered poster.
