It depends on your game. Would you rather get players in the door regardless of quality and then have less flexibility or wait a little while longer and get the right ones in. I know what I’d prefer. Lots of games to play before the window closes though, 18 points up for grabs and 2 cups. Someone said before that if we start off losing games that could put players off signing for us, or managers from loaning us players. Plus losing can become a habit as we know only too well James Connolly and Elliott Anderson signed when we were losing quite reguarly. That didn't stop them from joining did it?

Tbf we've lost Connor Taylor, Eliott Anderson and were missing both our 1st choice Midfielders too We haven't replaced them and we lost. FGR did and they won. Should have scored 7 or 8 Replacing Elliott Anderson is near on impossible. What else do you expect us to do when you're missing both your 1st choice Midfielders? We missed them badly as Rossiter was so far off the pace today. But we're still missing players from last season too, just like Forest Green. Last season proved you don't always have to rush and sign players at the start of the season. You can pick up gems throughout the season and still be succesful.

Very poor. Dont forget FGR lost both their wing backs and best midfielder and still created far more than we did Tbf we've lost Connor Taylor, Eliott Anderson and were missing both our 1st choice Midfielders too

That was very, very poor.
Only Belshaw can take any credit today.
Quite a few don't look match fit. Especially Rossiter, so far off the pace it was laughable.
We missed Coutts and Finley massively.
Oh well, we're used to this. Standard opening day defeat.

Definitely a shot. Quality finish, but so much time and space on the edge of our box. Terrible defending today. Never a shot. Didn't even look, just tried hooking it back into the box

Extremely excited to watch Burnley live on Sky tonight. Expect Scott Twine to steal the show. Be keen to see if Adam Phillips is in the squad at all. Feel like he's a Barton type Central Midfielder waiting to be signed... It'll be interesting to see how they get on this season. I tipped them to go down again. Jay Rodriguez, Ashley Barnes and Twine like you mentioned will get goals at this level and they've kept hold of Maxwel Cornet, for now anyway, so maybe predicting them for back to back relegations was a bit knee jerk

I was listening to what Barton said about transfers last night, and I broadly agree with his approach of waiting until more quality becomes available on the market. I'm sure we've got a few really quality players in mind who will come in and be big additions to us once their agents give up hopes of getting their client transferred to a higher league. However the situation with defenders just baffles me. I felt we were quite light on defenders last year, and since then we've lost Taylor and released Harries. We might not be able to get our dream centre back signing just yet, but a loan for someone who's got potential and will give us more depth in that department is sorely needed. I trust that Joey knows what he's doing. I'd rather wait and get the right players in than panic and just sign players to make up the numbers. We did that last season with Pitman, Mark Hughes, Junior Brown etc. We got Connolly & Anderson in January, who made all the difference. Lets not panic

If whelan is still unattached could we not bring him in until coutts is available again Boom. Back and registered as a player. Very pleased about that. His experience and Football Brain is valuable. Still easily good enough to boss the midfield at this level.Even if he won't play that many games Welcome back Glenn

I think in Liverpool and Manchester as well actually 'Joey's' are a big organised drug dealing network 🙂

Could listen to Barton talk about the gas for hours on end. Such a good listen. The way he talks about us and our potential stirs many emotions. He really does seem to get us. Let’s hope he sees out that 4 year contract and gets us back to the championship before he moves on. Being an Evertonian, I think he does really get it. While Bristol hasn't got anywhere near the Footballing history of Liverpool, it's pretty similar in a lot of ways. 2 clubs, 1 Blue, 1 Red, Everton like us haven't finished above their neighbours for near on 20 years, haven't improved the ground for 26 years, are seen as the plucky underdog compared to their richer, more succesful neighbours. Everton like us desperately want to get back to being the top dog in the City or at least competing with them both on the pitch and off it. I genuinely think he'll stick it out.

Have the plans changed? I thought Brabazon was going to be over 17,000 making it the third largest venue in the country, after the O2 and MEN. 17,000 is nothing. Do you think pink Floyd or guns and roses would play to that? It'll be the 3rd biggest indoor Arena in the country.
Bristol has Ashton Court or The Downs which are big enough to hold festivals or terrible bands like Guns N Roses/Metallica

Got Elliott Moore and Steve Seddon who are decent options and this summer recruited Northern Ireland capped Ciaron Brown and Scotland capped Stuart Findlay. you look at that compared to our Centre Half options. I think this season will be tougher than initially expected. I remember when we signed Scotland capped Gary Kenneth and Derek Riordan 🙂

How long has our transfer record stood for? Must admit that when Wael took over the club I did expect that record to have finally been broken. Not like it's even that much relatively speaking! Tom Nichols was pretty close to it wasn't he? Although it was for an 'Undisclosed Fee', it was MacAnthony from Peterborough who stated we'd paid about 370k for him wasn't it? Most of the players we pay fees for now are Undisclosed, so we never know exactly how much we've paid.

Luton and Griffin park never had tents as seating accommodation Would you say this, that runs the whole length of the pitch at Kenilworth Rd is better than our Tents?

Spot on. Brentford managed to get themselves out of League 1 and sustain themselves as a top half Championship team for 5 years while at Griffin Park. Luton have bounced back from The Conference like us and sustained themselves in The Championship too. Both Griffin Park and Kenilworth Rd although they may have a few more seats than The Mem, capacity wise they're not to dissimilar. So while of course we need a new stadium for the long term, getting to The Championship and staying there is not impossible in the short term. Kenilworth Rd and Griffin Park are/were 100% covered with far better facilities than the mem, and are proper football grounds. Not even sure we'd be allowed into the championship with the mem in it's current state. You sure about that? I'm pretty sure Brentfords main home end didn't have a roof until recently. Kenilworth Road doesn't even have a stand running the whole length of the pitch, plus to get in the away end you literally have to walk through people's back gardens. Yes they are/were traditional old Football grounds but the facilities are/were not much better than The Mems. Edit: Yeovil also got to The Championship with a capacity of about 9k with an away end that has no roof

If the stadium issue isn't resolved it won't be long until there isn't a club, the time is fast approaching where sweeping it under the carpet won't wash anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if the club had some positive stadium news for us, but it's not as life or death as you are making it out to be. We need as stadium to move forward, but capacity aside there isn't too much wrong with the mem. Decent catering, good bars, nice location, great atmosphere... Spot on. Joey’s recruitment has been absolutely spot on.
I trust he knows what he's doing.
I'd rather us wait and get the right players in, than just sign players for the sake of it to make up the numbers.
If that means were not 100% for the first few weeks of the season, so be it.
We weren't at it until the New Year last season, and we only ended up 4 points off the eventual Champions.
The nucleus of our side, Belshaw, Connolly, Finley, Coutts, Evans and Collins are still here.
Certainly no need to panic

Good to see that EH has been impressed by Elliot's endurance, (amongst other things), since he's been back at Newcastle. Of all his fantastic qualities, that was the one that impressed me the most about EH.
Along with his movement, awareness, dribbling and goalscoring, his workrate off the ball and his constant demanding of the ball were the things that impressed me the most
