wanted to stay though so their relationship obviously wasn't that bad but I admit I was taken aback slightly by the comment.

I guess the players see much more of how Darrell works than us fans. Easter will have played under a lot of managers in his career so he has a lot to compare Darrell to. He hasn't actually said he was rubbish and we've all questioned Darrell throughout the season on some strange decisions that he's made. The way I read it is that Darrell is young, he's got plenty to learn, he's done well so far, but there is room for improvement. Pretty much what we already knew.

I wouldn't read too much into it. 1. It's the Evil Post. 2. Sounds like a little bit of sour grapes? But nothing nasty obviously Easter thinks he's still good enough for another year? Me personally I think DC has made the right decision.

Unless we hear the full interview then it's difficult to draw any conclusions, as I can't imagine that's all he had to say about DC.

Do we think this is verbatim? I'm highly sceptical of written interviews, especially in a paper like the Post. It does seem odd on the face of it but could quite easily have been taken out of context. E.g.:
JV: So you're leaving when it's clear you'd have liked to stay, were there any issues between you and the manager?
JE: No, not at all, Darrell was okay but works with a strict budget and for whatever reason decided there are better options elsewhere. Personally I feel I had a lot more to offer Bristol [sic] but he's a young manager and he's had success. I wish him well.
I would imagine Mr Vittles reads this forum so maybe he could let us know.

Jermaine Easter was okay, he's an older player and he's had success. I wish him well.

Trollope made the mistake (in my view) of letting Steve Elliott go too early (Steve wanted to stay but the budget said no) and this could be similar - I am sure we will watch on and see Easter getting good reviews wherever he goes for one or two seasons (as per Steve at Cheltenham)

One more shot on target than James there then.

He played better for us than I thought he would, judging from what I had been told about him. But he didn't set the world alight, and is still injury-prone. At 35, he's going nowhere but downhill.
Perfectly reasonable interview from him though, I thought. He's hardly going to be delighted with DC at the moment, but what he said was pretty dignified.

DC obviously thinks he can get better value somewhere else ie wages etc. Personally thought he was good option first 30 mins or last 30mins game but what do I know??

How can anybody compare a bit part player Easter to a legend like Elliott (or Disley) who probably played in every game the season before he was released. If DC is seriously aiming for a top 6 spot then he needs to sign better strikers than Easter, who'll probably have to drop down to Div 2 to get a new contract. Let's just hope LJ's not being lined up as JE's replacement: www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/luke-james-close-finding-new-104362

Player shown the door against their will. Not to surprised if he was a little bitter. Means he has to move his family to another part of the country. Easter played his part over last few year which I am grateful for. DC had promoted us twice in 3 years that enough evidence for me to show he isn't bad at this football management business. Long may he continue at the Gas.

I don't see any malice in it at all. I guess we all look at things differently though. Personally I'd have liked to have kept Easter. Never mind.

Jammer had/has definite quality but he isnt going to take us up another level, certainly not at his age.
I've never known a player take so long to get fit though, seemed like he was always at 60% fitness

Unless we have negotiated the price down
