Im sure JE when he reflects will realise his last two seasons have seen him used as a bit part player ( that's not saying he wasn't important as he was) His role was mostly as a sub or to fill in when injury struck up front. He did a very good job. He also no doubt was a good influence in the changing room showing younger players a professional attitude. For the future ,at league one pushing for the championship even a bit part /sub player no matter the age will need to be at a certain pace and a certain quality. Currently JE most likely doesn't qualify at that level. Its a shame to lose good people but this happens. JE will if he choses find a club to continue his career . Newport ,Cheltenham ,Yeovil ,Swindon ,FGR offer a chance at league two without needing to move home should it arise.

Sounds about right for a journeyman like Easter, who's only in it for the money.
Easter played 300 games in 17 years...
Compare that with Tom Lockyer, who's played 200 @ 22 yrs old.

It's only a sentence which has an edge to it but tbh so did Easter. He played a part, he's gone but good luck to him. He moves on so do we. Thanks Jermaine. UTG!

Another player that has done all he can.
Had a good edge about him and a great touch.
Would have been good to watch 10 years ago.

Sort of comment I would expect from a player who even now is far better than some of the players retained who will never reach the standard of his football brain and first touch. Was a player who could change the game from being hoofed in the air to going to feet and has at least another season left in him at League 1 standard but will probably end up in League 2. Personally felt at the right price he should have been kept but lets wait and see what Darrell brings in and then be able to judge if he gets better players than Easter in.

Never rated him that much myself.
Funny old game.

It's hardly a damning comment. Not like he has said DC is a lady garden and I felt he made a lot of bad decisions. It's just what it is. He has played under a lot of managers and sees DC as a young guy when in comparison to them. I don't see anything in it that is even a little inflammatory but I guess others do. Personally I'd have liked to see him stay but I'm not the manager and I guess DC believes he can get better value elsewhere

Whether the decision is right or wrong in this case, I'm just glad DC has got the balls to make the big decisions when they need making. I doubt he'll be on Jermaine's Christmas card list now but that's just my view.

No doubting Easter has quality and did show it a lot as well as good finishing, but if he was one of the top wage earners (which I think he was) I don't think he justified another year.

I think there is a lot of truth in that. If I remember correctly then many were really pushing for us the get him here. I mean, Millwall were in the championship and we had a chance of getting him. It seemed a no brainier at the time but DC is one of those rare types that doesn't suffer any primadonnas and he goes for players who show desire, strength of character and the willingness to play for the shirt above outright ability. As I said earlier, I was hoping we could keep him another season as I think his first touch was very good but I'd have liked to have seen him placed just behind a one or two striker front line. Anyway, it's not going to happen so we move forwards. I would hope we see some more signings coming through, in the next week. It just seems that Rovers seem to do very little then everything happens at once. I'm hoping to see a fair few quality signings come through within the next few weeks and be in a position where we have all the squad together before the pre season starts. I think it makes for a big difference when they are all together whilst they are training and getting prepared for the season

I was really excited when we signed him in Jan 15. I had just seen him in the Championship match here in Bournemouth, he came on when Millwall were 2-0 down and he had a 10 minute slot when he made a real difference and helped get Millwall back to 2-2 before losing 5-2. Looked a classy player for 15 minutes. It was a similar thing here, early on injuries halted his effectiveness and he was never a regular. But he was a classy player and in the appearances he made I think he was very good and you could see how good he was in his prime, just not a prolific scorer. We move on. UTG!

I guess because we needed an experienced head within a very young team and someone with an eye for goals. It's not like he's the only player DC has signed that didn't live up to certain people's expectations

Would have preferred him to stay over what we've got.

We allowed Steve Elliott to move on without offering a reduced pay contract to stay - he gave Cheltenham several years good service - could be the same with Easter he might say no but have we offered him the chance? DC will have to do well to find someone with his touch, brain and experience to replace even accounting for Easter's age.

Steve Elliott was a consistent performer and wasn't out injured all the time.
I'd like to think we can get better than Easter for the money he was costing us but I can understand why many wanted us to keep him.
