Im not sold on him tbh.
Lacks league experience with having just one sub appearance in the league and one in the cup. Whilst i dont doubt his future capability amd his performance in the U20's is testament to that there must be a reason why he hasn't featured more for sheff wed if he was that good and i would question why he didn't go out on loan the season just gone.
Can't see how he fits into our set up and how he would benefit us.

Can't see how he fits into our set up and how he would benefit us. I think the reason he hasn't featured more for their first team is because they were battling to reach the Prem and he had the likes of Gary Hooper, Sam Winnall, Jordan Rhodes, Lucas Joao, Steven Fletcher and Fernando Forestieri ahead of him in the pecking order. All quality players. The Wednesday youth staff also thought that his development was best served by staying there last season. That is their prerogative. Academy manager Dean Ramsdale told The Star: “I would be surprised if we let George out. We see his development with us and training with the first-team. “We see his development playing for the Under-18s and U23s but ultimately that could change.” Hirst has frequently been training with the first-team. “It is great for George that he is training with the senior guys,” said Ramsdale. “What that is going to do is make him quickly improve.” I remember back in the day Jermaine Defoe only making one appearance for West Ham before joining Bournemouth on a season loan, he ended up breaking all sorts of goalscoring records for them. There is no reason why Hirst couldn't do the same.

that video sums up the youth of today....
he scores a decent enough goal and then runs off towards the corner flag to celebrate infront of an invisible stadium of fans consisting largely of bushes and brambles....

Yeah, look at those jumped up little primadonna pretty boys celebrating scoring against their local rivals like that. Disgusting.

To be fair I celebrate like that in the back garden when having a kick-about with the boy, although if he did it he would get a two footer at knee height...

www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/watch-everton-still-keeping-tabs-on-george-hirst-after-having-january-bid-turned-down-by-sheffield-wednesday-1-8598552/ampSpeaking to Sheffield Live TV, Hoyland said: “We were interested in him earlier on this season, I’ll admit it, we put a little bid in to Sheffield Wednesday (in January) but (they said) no way." “Unfortunately for George, Wednesday have signed more and more centre forwards so it might be best to go and get some league football and develop in professional football, in the mens game.“He’s done fantastic for England any time I’ve seen him. “Forty goals, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing, you’re scoring 40 goals, so now you’ve left that behind you, your youth football, go and prosper now and show people what you can do in the real game."Would love to have him as an option here on loan. 6ft 3in, decent pace, good movement, excellent finisher. We could do a lot worse.

If he's half the player that Best and Geoff were then he'd be a great signing.

Interesting that someone said his dad is David Hirst. I seem to remember he played for Wednesday in the 1980's? In the old first division.
He was the next great hope as an England international but he never quite made it. I seem to remember he was plagued by injury and sort of faded from the scene.
Let's hope his son is a bit more robust.

Everton had a failed bid in January, and are looking to sign him up again now. We have no chance.

We have players in the development side and out on loan who score regularly. I'd rather we gave them the chance , not someone who belongs elsewhere.

What i dont get is why he hasnt played more games for sheff wed? They have had a massive injury list and a string of dreadful results!

On Saturday DC, I think, implied that he's 'going off' the loan system. If he's true to his word we may see fewer loanees and more home developed players. Hope so, anyway.
