Another player I hope we are monitoring is 17-year-old Cirencester Town, Hartpury College and England Schools U18 winger Owen Windsor. Made his debut for Cirencester Town as a 16-year-old and is into double figures for appearances in Southern League Divison One South this season. Panini doing stickers at that level amazing world. Got my Ghassan Abu Hassan one framed.

Always thought Danny Newton was going to go up the football pyramid, shame he's been poor this season.
Haven't read much of this thread but just throwing some more names into the hat

Incidentally I heard scout and former player Matt Jackson recently state that Wigan actually pay someone to read the non-league paper! www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/features/25623/best-young-players-non-league/Ed Williams, Josh Kelly, Jacob Mensah, Serhat Tasdemir, Ben Garrity, Joe Raynes, Alex Brown and Kurt Willoughby all mentioned on the thread previously. Tyler French transfer listed by Sudbury. www.suffolkfreepress.co.uk/sport/bostk-league-afc-sudbury-star-transfer-listed-9062888/Joe Raynes signs new contract.

So Zak Ansah, Kane Smith, Daniel Udoh and Daniel Ajakaiye are previously unmentioned? I really don't know much about them, do you? Also Pirate out of curiosity how do you have such a superb knowledge of the lower leagues?

Also Pirate out of curiosity how do you have such a superb knowledge of the lower leagues? Ansah, Udoh, Smith and Ajakaiye were previously unmentioned as far as I remember, but I'm aware of all of them. Ansah scored against us a few years ago when Newport thrashed us at the Mem. He came through the Arsenal youth setup and played for England at youth level. His dad Andy is a former player of "unbelievable tekkers" fame. Udoh caught the eye at Ilkeston and eventually signed for Crewe after being linked with a few clubs. He struggle to get any games for them and was released after a couple of years. Smith trialled at a few clubs a couple of years ago after getting loads of assists as a right back/wing back for Hitchin before eventually joining Boreham Wood. He helped them to the National League playoff final last season, but has been out all of this season through injury. Ajakaiye came through the youth ranks at West Ham and I've seen most of his goals this season, he's decent, but I actually prefer their 19-year-old striker Davide Rodari (edit: see goals below). He was at Inter Milan as a youngster and last season top scored for the Hastings Utd U19, U23 and 1st team. He was offered trials at a couple of League One clubs before he suffered an ACL injury which has kept him out for the whole of this season so far, but should be back in the next week or two. Hastings have a very good youth setup for that level and I've already mentioned their box-to-box midfielder Adam Lovatt who is worth a trial, but one of their younger age group kids has recently been offered an 8 week trial at Chelsea. I've watched lower league and non-league since I was a kid and it's just something I've always been interested in.

A player that has caught my eye this season is the 21-year-old former Watford centre back Connor Stevens at Wealdstone. I saw him put in a typically assured display on Tuesday night and also added his 5th goal of the season. Managers comments earlier this season

I'm looking forward to watching Dean Rule, Owen Windsor and Isaac Sinclair tonight if selected for the England Schools side. Three players I reckon are worth a trial and a closer look in training.

Although the lad I mentioned above, Isaac Sinclair (Trevor Sinclair's son), plays for Longridge Town in the one of the NW Counties Leagues. A player at that level this season, 18-year-old central midfielder Callum Dolan, has just joined Altrincham in the National League North and would be worth the club keeping an eye on. He has been on the books of Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers and Bury previously. A couple of other decent ones in the NW Counties Leagues are 17-year-old striker Asa Mitchell at AFC Thackley and 20-year-old attacking midfielder/no.10 Aaron Smith at 1874Northwich. Smith was top scorer for the Nottingham Forest U23s last season.

With this said, always baffles me that we don't seem to exhaust the options in non-league. Or if we do, it's on the likes of Mensah. So many good players flying under the radar that clubs like Posh seem to hoover up, I'd certainly like to see us actively exploring this market more, especially given we're clearly on a budget.

I'm surprised we haven't had more players in, as far as I can see, from non-league on trial. So many good players out there that get discarded by the academy system or have their pathway blocked and then drop into non-league game. I'm not surprised to see so many step back up once they have experienced first team mens football. Look at the likes of Jamie Vardy, Charlie Austin, Troy Deeney, Chris Smalling, Solly March, Michail Antonio, Ashley Williams, Ashley Barnes, Harry Arter, Craig Dawson, Anthony Pilkington, Craig Noone, Albert Adomah, Lee Tomlin, Aden Flint, Joe Lolley, Lee Gregory and Jarrod Bowen and their career path.

Che Adams another great example. Playing non-league until he was 18 and now tearing apart the Championship week-in, week-out. To put simply, there is so much more our club could be doing in terms of recruitment - other than merely scouting Coventry.

I actually tried to to tip the club off about Adams when he was at Ilkeston, a bit like Elliott Reeves at Ilkeston now. Edit: these were a couple of Che Adams goals at Ilkeston that caught my eye...
