I was in The Miles last night for a few, and was in the café this morning for some brekkie, not one person had heard about this "rumour".
Considering the OP said everyone in Avonmouth village was talking about it......

I used to work in 2nd Way and one of my machine operators would pop in on his way to work; he was sent home on more than one occasion by management on H&S grounds A song title by Otis Redding springs to mind over this thread

OK so I live in France but why are so many voting against a possible move to Avonmouth. A bit like Brexit I would have thought no deal with UWE was better than a bad deal with UWE for Rovers. Excuse my ignorance!!

Excuse my ignorance!! Id guess most people vote for which would be easiest for them to get to. That's why I voted Avonmouth.

I think a new ground anywhere around the Bristol area would be favourable wouldnt it?!
Doesn't matter where in the Bristol area either, the City is big but not that big.

Except that our historical fan Base is from north and east Bristol, so way out west isn't going to be popular.

People complain about the pubs/bars and access to the UWE site. Heaven forbid we end up at Avonmouth for the reaction alone.
Really crap for getting there though the UWE has great accessibility in terms of non-car transport links. Whilst the car links at Avonmouth are maybe as good it's a very very 'out of town' style location

Its served its purpose but its now holding us back and all the bars on Gloucester Rd cant stop that..

Oh I totally agree that the Mem is holding us back, and totally think a new stadium is better than a regenerated Mem. I just think the idea of Avonmouth falls far short of the UWE site, which as a site shouldn't leave us with a white soulless bowl and should actually have a decent atmosphere to it. Anyway, I'm hopeful a UWE announcement is imminent but even a rose tinter like me is losing faith. I've moved twice and lived in two cities since it was announced.

I think most new builds these days lose a lot of atmosphere, that's the price of progress I guess. I do agree the proposed UWE stadium is better than anything in Avonmouth, although if the Avonmouth site ends up being on the cards then thats still better than the Mem. I'm the sort of fan that gets into the ground as close to kick off as possible, don't really bother with pubs and straight home after the game...therefore my stadium wish-list would be a lot different than most. You dont normally see me posting about the new stadium as like many others there have been too many false dawns, but in terms of football stadiums in the FL we are falling behind quite rapidly with a lot of clubs either having a new stadium or rebuilding the existing one.
