Is his dad Richard by any chance? No mate. It's Jeremy Richard must be lukes uncle then. Makes sense as I know Richard and his daughter Lucy Russe, who lived in BS3. Don't know of too many other Russe's from Bedminster/Ashton. Edit:just spoke to Lucy on Facebook and they are indeed cousins.

I liked the performances of Lewis Hall in midfield and Tom Broadbent as a left footed center back. Both big units as well. Lewis was tidy with the ball, quick footed and lots of energy. Broadbents distribution with his left peg was decent. They both played 90 minutes.

When I posted this thread I predicted the following scores: 5-1 at Melksham 3-3 at Yate I was very close with Melksham (6-1) but far off with Yate (0-0). This thread is basically updates of goals, and some replied with assessments of the Yate game at half-time since there were no updates from the official rovers page for me to post myself. Reply with your assessments if you were at a game - man of the match? Standouts? You can't tell me what to do.

From memory, he was a bus driver, working out of Winterstoke Road. He was living in Bedminster at the time.

Other moments of note from these Melksham game. The other trialists were OK but nothing standout IMO. Bodin looks sharp and had a well taken goal. Russe gave away a cheap pen by putting his hands on the striker as a cross came in. He did nothing wrong but nothing of note other than that. Sercombe looks rather good. Let's hope he continues like that. Driving runs, a beautiful driven 30 yard pass, a perfect cross for gaffers, who should of done better , hit the crossbar and looked a constant threat. A good start.

I thought Moore, Lines, Bodin, Sincs, Gaffney, Ollie, all looked their usual high standard, the others need to work on their sharpness.
Slocombe commanded his area well, but didn't have much to do.
Sercombe is absolute class, and I can see him giving competition for both Lines and Ollie.
I've always been a fan of Ellis, but if he can't deal with Melksham Town defenders, I'm afraid he's not going to be up to it in league one this season.

Sercombe looked a class above. Could be the kind of player who makes a difference this season. Bodin looked like Christiano ronaldo out there against Melksham, hopefully hes stepped up another gear and it's not a reflection against the opposition (all respect intended) but then we run the risk of not keeping him if that's the case. Similar for Gaffney who seemed to have found his scoring boots at the end of the season and was sharp today.
I was right by Stuart Naylor warming up the two keepers. Interesting that Adam Smith didn't get a start - he was huffing and puffing and seemed to be getting a hard time from Naylor who said to him 'welcome to the real world'. Perhaps smith has only just made it back from his holidays. Otherwise, Smith looked sharper in the warmup and has interesting distribution. Slocombe is a very loud chap and the kind of player who could end up as captain at some point.

Thought the game ticked all the boxes from a getting fit point of view. Obviously a lot of ring rustiness, but some clinical finishing. Sercombe looks a good signing and young Luke looked ok in midfield.
One player on their side who looked quite tidy was their number 10.
Only issue for me was lack of movement off the ball up front. Too much waiting to see where a cross would be put rather than dragging defenders all over the place by continual movement. But for a first game of the season, ok. Harrison? Can and must do better.

Spoke to Lewis hall at halftime. He's Australian, never played in the uk before. As mentioned above, he's a big unit and a very tidy defensive mid.
As for Broadbent, very similar to Sweeney, another big unit. Watching the clip above it appears he can also play at left back, blimey, he does look impressive at that standard. Impressed with both players, strength and skill.
