"Encouraging look at new players and trialists work to be done but first signs look good" "Attacking options defo needed but Gaffney did his part today." "May have scored, but overall Harrison was sh*t today." "Commanding goalkeeper (Sercombe) but overall nothing to do - made a good save." "Sercombe looks like a very good addition, him and Linsey will rip defenses apart."

"Bodin in space and he rifled a superb left foot shot past Brown and high into the roof of the net." -Rovers website
Bodin doesn't score normal goals, even in pre-season.

Spoke to Lewis hall at halftime. He's Australian, never played in the uk before. As mentioned above, he's a big unit and a very tidy defensive mid. As for Broadbent, very similar to Sweeney, another big unit. Watching the clip above it appears he can also play at left back, blimey, he does look impressive at that standard. Impressed with both players, strength and skill. More to point do thing there worth signing ?

Obviously would need to see more of them both and against better opposition. Broadbent particularly looks the part, could be another Sweeney, as comparable in size and dominance, but this kid can also play/pass as well and he ain't slow. Maybe , just maybe, he could be another DC gem, let's wait and see.

I have just got back from Melksham and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The facilities were superb considering it is a council and PL sponsored community project. If our training facilities turn out like that, I would be well impressed. Bristol City Council could learn a few lessons in seeing what it possible to achieve with a limited budget.
The first half was slightly stilted - Melksham seemed to close us down rather easily and even offer a threat to us on occasion. Sinclair seemed to have been given the role of running the midfield and was his usual self. Ollie Clarke looked like he was well on the road to recovery from his recent injury layoff and BBB was the stand out player in terms of creativity. I still worry about Ellis - his movement is still poor and his first touch let him down on too many occasions. There was a trialist at the left centre of defence and he looked solid. Another trialist in front of the back four who looked neat and tidy.
The second half was a much different side and a much different style. The passing was crisper and quicker and the movement off the ball was much better. Lines sat deep in midfield and was a class above what we had seen in the the first half. However, Sercombe showed exactly why DC bought him to the club and added a different dimension in a more advanced position. His movement off the ball was good, he looked for the ball and when he got it his distribution was good. What was even better was the way he linked up with Gaffers, who looked sharp. All 4 of the second half goals came from really neat interplay between Gaffers and Sercombe. The young lad on the wing looked promising but maybe not yet quite ready.
All in all a good day and , I would say we have a nucleus of what could become a very competitive side.

The Heidelberg United hard man with a 12 month suspended jail sentence for travel insurance fraud!

For those asking about Tom Lockyer, DC confirmed he gave him an extra week off because of the Wales stuff.

Apologies if already posted somewhere and/or already answered, but did the Jordanian get a run out at Yate and, if so, how did he look (football-wise that is (to preempt any comic remarks!))?

Harry Goode, the right back who played at Yate, is an 18-year-old former Derby County youth.

The highlights will be up 11:30-12:00 probably. Not sure whether it'll be both games, or just Melksham.
