It has been almost 6 months on since the saga of the snake reared it's head and Matty Taylor made his switch to the red lot down the road. Just for a bit of fun, how do you feel about the following?
Would you have Matty T back? Would you buy him a pint in the pub? Would you still give him a bit of abuse?
I was seriously annoyed at the time and was surprised at how much it actually hurt by what he did. Over time though I can't help but watch the guy struggle to make an impact there in the same way he did here, and think, 'well that serves you right.' All in all though the player they cheer on, partly out of it 'spiting the gas' but also because obviously they want him to do well, and I love the irony of them cheering on a player who can't hit a barn door but scored us to two promotions. As it stands his legacy and reputation is built on scoring us out of two divisions, and I think six months on I'd have to buy him a beer if I saw him in a pub, but proceed to give him a little bit of passive aggressive friendly abuse for the fact he hasn't made it yet.
Would I have him back? I don't think Darrell Clarke would have him back whilst he's in charge and I think he'll be here for a while yet. But if the chance arose, and he was right for the level we were at, I would. Until that day comes, if ever (and I think unlikely), whilst he plays at the Memorial Stadium or the UWE stadium (here's hoping) he'll get the appropriate abuse!

I'd take him back, then stick him on the bench every game and send him on for the last minute of each match.
Oh forgot to mention, the above would be for the stiffs.
I have given him stick since his move, he pretended not to hear it to be fair to him, but he did.

Welcome that Trecherous little snake? G.T.F. outta here!
I hope his career stalls then goes into terminal decline. If that short-arsed tosser selects him and he fails to score they'll be on his back in no time and he will be about as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool.
Looking forward to seeing the little Sh1t rotting in the stiffs whislt bleeding the Duke for £15k every week.

I was playing golf today, with a few mates of mine today, one of them being a shithead. He helped getting our club back into league 1, most importantly back in the football league after the sorry side of the 13/14 season relegated us. I thank the guy for that, his goals no doubt so important for us. Since moving too the sh**... he has far from impressed for them, no matter what most of otib punters try to convince themselves, they've signed a striker who cant score goals in the championship in their side. Shitehead mate today, doesnt believe MT is good enough. I had to bite my tongue, was close to defending Matty, he was great for us, we sang his name, the fans loved him, he scored goals and created chances for us....but i thought nope he is just greedy shithead now who shat on us in the worst way going to them. Would you have Matty T back? No Would you buy him a pint in the pub? No - he should buy the fans that paid his wages and gave him a chance to play a higher level than Salisbury. Would you still give him a bit of abuse? the way he disrespected our club, he deserves just a little.

It really hurt at the time , really hurt. We've moved on now so has he , it's just such a shame as he really could of gone down as a real hero and left behind a real legacy. I would of welcomed him back with great applause if he would of joined anyone else but not them lot. I would never begrudge any one in any walk of life wanting to better themselves but personally I think he's taken a sideward step , with a bit of patience, he could of helped us move into the playoffs ( probably ) and earned himself a better move to a bigger better club. Instead he's taken the lazy option and ruined his relationship with every single gashead , he knew the way both clubs feel about each other. I would never want him back as he's burnt his bridges.

Fans are fickle with regards to players so why not players towards fans? Lots on here want most of our winning team replaced with better quality blah blah blah. Good players like gaffney and harrison mostly dismissed as not being of any use despite giving a good account of themselves in their 1st season in league 1 last year and every chance they could improve still further this season. Taylor played regularly in a city team that finished the season strongly and whose to say he wont score 15+ goals this season coming? will we be having a 9 months on thread? then a 1 year on thread? Hope not!

I wonder if forums dedicated to other things obsess over the return of former incumbents as much as Rovers forum users seem to?
Like is there a One Man and His Dog forum where every other thread is "Shep - would you have him baaaack"?
Or a classical music forum: Johan Sebastian - would you have him Bach"?

I'd never have him back and even if he came back with different opposition to his current employers I'd still give him both barrels. Not much of a drinker myself but I might buy him one just to poor it on the dwarf. Abuse most definitely - I'd probably have to remove myself from the situation before I did something I'd regret! Not a fan personally lol! It almost kinda felt like being cheated on!

DC might take him on a loan when he's in charge at Leeds next season.

But my mate has different view, much like mine I suppose on luke James, you want your striker to score. Anyway I wouldn't have him back.
