Hope this isn't going to develop into another James Constable type saga - where did that end up? Where/who is the second striker I wonder - presumably Nichols was one of his main targets from the start of his 'search'. Thing is Peterborough have signed Miller and Marriot, and they already didn't seem massively bothered by losing Nicholls. Nicholls clearly has his price, we are just trying to get him for cheap. I guess that's what DC refers to when he says it's inflated at the beginning of the window.

The way I see it, is that we've agree a fee with Peterborough, but still need to agree terms with the player.

I guess it's down now to who blinks first now, P'boro won't want a player stuck at the club they don't need v how desperate are we to sign him. As newblue suggests, hopefully, this won't turn into another Constable (& Cureton?) saga where seemingly chase the same player all summer then miss out.

The exact opposite to DC who like to keep his cards close to his chest, it's like he's playing up to an audience with some of his comments and showing off? No need of this in my oppinion.

Absolute rubbish comment. The Peterborough manager buys in private and sells in public, very public on twitter, the exact opposite to how he demands his buying policy. He appears to buy and sell player for profit not for football reasons. So glad he is not Rovers owner.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but in fairness they've made an impressive £20 million profit on sales and played Championship football a lot more recently than we have. EDIT: They've also improved their stadium too.

I can guarantee if we had bid £1m for him, he wouldn't be tweeting that a club had made a bid. Him publicly stating transfer business is nothing more than a tactic to get clubs to look elsewhere, that and an ego-boost for the w**ker.

But they do seem to have run out of steam recently with Barry Fry complaining earlier in the summer season ticket sales were well down etc. m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39791199It'll be interesting to see if they bounce back this season or whether they've become just a mid table side.

Matt Godden 15 goals in league2 .Tom Nichols 13 goals in league1.Stevenage reported to want £1 mil plus for Godden while Nichols seems to carry a 200k price tag.makes it a no brainer to go after Nichols and he is about 3 years younger as well and therefore has more potential.Think it was Nichols who mugged off young Tom when he scored for Exeter at the mem.Would be a great signing if we get him.

I've always rated Nichols. Would be a great signing and strike partner for Gaffney or Ellis.
