DC's already had a good look at him so obviously thinks he's up to it and fits in with the squad alright. Based on that, good signing. Welcome to the Gas Tom.

Ex-squaddie so gets my vote. Though as a gunner he'll probably spend most of the game shouting "Pardon?" to the rest of the team.

Doubt Sweeney is coming now. Very disappointing. It does say to provide competition for central defensive positions. As we have no other left sided centre back, I presume another is on the way?

Hopefully. On the evidence of the Weston game and the clips online I can only see Broadbent being back up. At 25 he's still very raw.

Well that is a slight anti climax I would agree, BUT don't forget boys and girls a certain Billy Bodin joined the club in a very similar fashion a few years ago and that seems to have gone ok for us...

Definitely back up. Cant think DC is happy with having him and Burn as first teamers alongside Locks. We all saw how Locks struggled alongside Hartley/JCS until Sweens came in. Still got my fingers crossed for Sweeney to come back.

I heard he's been excellent in the pre-season games on GasChat therefore why are people now saying it's a "meh" signing? Get over yourselves - Sweeney wont be coming back.

Clearly a lad that's worked hard, impressed and one that DC thinks the club could develop and so I'm happy that he's here and wish him well for the future. Good luck Tom. Still expect to see another centre-back at the club before the window closes.

Bodin was a 23-year-old former Welsh U21 international who had played nearly 100 league games for various clubs. Broadbent was last at a relegated Southern Prem side and has no league experience. A big difference. Hopefully Broadbent will prove to be a good signing though.

I want Broadbent to do well, he has impressed me in pre season and from what I've heard he is a nice lad.

I saw him against Weston and said he didn't look out of place against a poor Weston attack. I also said he looks raw. A big difference between a poor bottom half Conference South side and a League One team supposedly looking for promotion.

Bodin came to us a journey man who had never established himself as a reg1 in any team he had ever played for.. DC got the very best out of him and turned him into one of the best players in league 1.. Broadbent comes to us with a completely blank slate, just imagine what DC could do with that?!

Wales have had some shocking U21 players in the past, so that means nothing Sounds like he hasn't played higher through choice though, as he was in the forces. Could be a good find and I doubt he will be on big wages, so will leave money for other players. DC been seeing him in training, not just watched a few clips of him.

Probably a similar situation to when Swindon signed Aden Flint and I imagine their fans were pretty underwhelmed at the time. Like him or not, he didn't turn out to be the worst signing did he?
