Sorry if this has been posted already, but cant see any reference to it, and not long woke up after the flight back.
The stadium we played Hull at was ok, with a decent pitch. Only one bar near the ground and was the meeting point for many gas, not to mention a few Hull fans.
On entry, there was an open bar from which many fans watched the game, whilst about 100 or so Gas placed flags behind one goal and watched from there.
Our part of the stand was almost full, indeed to the extent that the guy on the mike asked the fans at the front who were standing in the sterile area to move away as they were blocking the view of others.
Just before ko, it was quite obvious that once again, there had been a heck of a turnout of gasheads. I'd say there were about 500 Gas, and about 70-100 Hull.
Chatting with one Hull guy, he said they felt embarrassed about being outnumbered a few days earlier by Oxford fans. Asked how many Oxford there were, he said about 70. Raised quite a laugh. He couldn't believe our following.
As for the game, we controlled it pretty much, until the mass change over of players, but played some lovely football.
All in all, it's looking promising, and a few more signings like a winger, a striker, and Sweeney, and I think we are in with a great shout.
Overall, I think Sabadell was a better venue from a fans point of view, and a better crowd in attendance, and personally, I hope we return to Spain next year. But this was another good experience.

A huge round of applause to you and all the gasheads who made it out to Portugal. Massive respect.
Also good to see a fully positive post from you for once. Things must actually be looking up!
UTG!

Brilliant trip, it was great to see so many Rovers there. I didn't go to Spain last year, so I can't compare. What I will say is , where ever we play next year, I'll definitely go again. I love Portugal, great people, great place, great food. UTG🌞

Personally thought the Sabadell game was a waste of time, playing English opposition pre season seems to make far more sense, after all it's meant to be a good work out for the players not just a jolly for the fans!

You miss the point Topper. Football is always about the fans. If it wasn't it wouldn't exist. But for the first time, our club can go abroad for warm weather training and gives the fans the opportunity to join them for a footy holiday.
Are you telling me that team bonding and training can't take place in this country? Of course it's also about the fans. But it's hardly a jolly with the cost involved.

Sounds like a good trip. Oxford fans on Facebook recon they took about 800 though. Still great support from us.

Sorry you're talking nonsense here, the tour is all about the players etc the fact fans can travel and watch a game is just a bonus, the Swindon game being played behind closed doors appears to confirm that viewpoint. I consider last year's trip a jolly for me, a nice hotel in a great city with decent weather with the bonus of watching Rovers certainly wasn't a hardship.

Does anyone know why the Swindle game was played behind closed doros - I don't see the point of that when there are fans over there that would have enjoyed the day.
EDIT: "Doros" is portugese for doors, in case anyone was wondering

I went to Portugal as well and had a really good time. Was over there for only 4 days but wish could had been more. And yes, there were positives that came out of the game with Hull. In fact, if we had not made so many changes in the second half, then we would had beating hull quite comfortably. I think we are now ready for the season ahead. Bring it on. UTG.

I like the idea of the squad taking in warm weather training ... for years we looked on enviously as others could do it and we couldn't afford it. Clearly benefits the players and brilliant that our fans can get to go see the team if they want to.
The set up at BRFC feels so much more professional in recent years ... the players are certainly getting looked after better and the backroom team now looks excellent. Last part of the jigsaw must be the new ground ... it will happen I have no doubt it's just when and where.
