Sore head this morning? I think Smith will be No. 1. Can't really see Harrison up front on his own. Surely Nicholls must start being our marquee signing. I don't think you should start a player just because he's anew signing and I'm pretty sure DC wouldn't either. He'll pick the formation and team that he sees best for this particular match, which is the way it should be. Does anybody on here know more about Charlton and their probable starting 11 than DC ? probably not, but I agree harrison on his own up front is probably not a good idea. I prefer the thought of Gafney as alone center forward with the quality of Bodin Sercombe and Clarke etc feeding off him. Harrison will always score goals but he offers very little else. Maybe Harrison makes the CB drop a yard further off than Gaffers? He doesn't drift as wide as Gaffers. His lack movement off the ball may encourage a defender to gamble, which in turn can be exploited.

Well you have mocked the team i believe dc will select so why not grow a pair and put your team on here? Are you in a secure unit? Do you sneak past the men in white coats in the middle of the night to gain access to a Laptop? Is your real name Ernie and do you live in Barrow Gurney? Are you on mind bending drugs? All the above - extremely likely WUM / TED - 99.9% Thatcher sold all the mental hospitals to her mates so im out in the "community" now. go on name your dc team for charlton, nobody will laugh at you if you get it wrong.

GK (smith at a push)
JC on basis that Leads is out Locks Broadbent Brown
Bodin OC Serc Lines Sinc
Gaff
4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 / 4-5-1
I think he'll stay loyal to majority of last years players. Can't see him starting 2 attacking wingers or 2 forwards.
In truth it's either a horrible or good away game to start, they've got some cracking forward players, and I pray we keep it tight early doors. Billy Clarke was quality for Bradford last year and has a touch of class, Holmes is proven at the level and Magennis killed us last year. When they got going last week they tore Ipswich apart. Given the pockets of holes B Clarke and Holmes like to drop in to I'm convinced DC will start 3 in the middle of the park.
However they do have some new players who may not gel immediately. I'd make it physical early doors, crowd out the centre of the park, stop them playing and give us a platform to build on.

Anyone would've thought we were a month away from the season starting, not 48 hours! Can we please get back to some talk about football?
I predict a 2-1 win for the gas to settle all the fans. Hopefully a good following with vocal support to cheer on the new boys and show them what a great club they've joined!

Would be delighted with a point but fear a comprehensive defeat, 3-1. Tough place to go first game of the season.

I'm surprised we haven't managed to sign at least one of the four players DC said he wants, ahead of the game.

Broadbent or Sweeney tomorrow? DC doesn't like to throw new players straight in the side, but obviously knows from last year what Sweeney is capable of. And Broadbent would be a little bit of a gamble given that he's unproven at this level.

I'd stick with Broadbent. He deserves it after a cracking pre-season and seems to have formed a good partnership with Lockyer and the keepers even if he is unproven. But like you say, we all know how good Sweeney is.
Nice choice to have though.

I'd play Sweeney and ease Broadbent in. Differnet ball game playing competitive fixtures.

4-3-3 Locks Broadbent or Sweeney ( tough one) Brown Leads Sinclair Clarke Lines Gafney Sercombe Bodin Leads is injured isn't he? Also I thought Sercombe was nore of a central player? I find it hard to figure out which of the central midfield 4 he will leave out, if any. Sweeney has to play for me. I'll admit I haven't seen Broadbent but I wouldn't want to throw him in a tough away game against Josh Magennis. The guy is a beast and embarrassed JCS at the mem last season. Ease him in.

Amazing how we're actually able to strongly debate about the line-up. Shows the depth we have and the options available.
