If there are no further signings and assuming all fit to be considered, what would be your line up against Charlton be? The starting 11 at Yeovil? The back 8 really pick themselves and I'd stick with BM/EH/BB if DC's going to start 4-3-3 over BM/RG/LN/BB and play 4-4-2 and so have to drop one of the CM's.

Smith
Brown Broadbent Lockyer Leadbitter
Moore O Clarke Lines Sinclair Bodin
Gaffney
Subs: Slocombe J Clarke Bola Broom Sercombe Nichols Harrison
We might make a signing or two before then, though I expect we'll have to wait until nearer the end of the window to secure the four DC wants. I'd only expect players signed by this weekend to make the Charlton match, probably Broom giving way on the bench.

Can't see anyway that Sercombe and Nicholls won't be in the starting line up at Charlton as they are our only real signings o0ther than the goalkeepers.

Give it till the end of page 1. The brick thrower's and kick you in the Bollocks lot will be on this thread like a bad smell.

I think Sercombe will definitely play. Not sure about Nichols though. DC has liked playing with just the one striker recently and can't see Nichols doing that as he's not really much of a target man is he?

Massive test for Broadbent but not sure who else plays there unless we sign another CB before next Saturday? (Burn hardly had a preseason and don't rate J.Clarke as a CB).
I'd start with Gaffney due to his workrate and willingness to run the channels all day. We'll need someone like that up top if we go 433.
Don't think we'll play 433 all season (we know how much DC likes to mix it up), but opting for midfield solidity in a tough first game probably wouldn't be a bad shout.

Based on the pre-season teams. Threre's a few equally good options now though, so it will probably largely depend on how DC thinks Charlton will play.
Personally really looking forward to this one, I haven't been to an opening day away game since AFC Wimbledon

True, and after Saturday's fine performance my guess has probably changed again. Sinclair, the solution to our left winger gap, who'd have thought it

Smith
Leadbitter Lockyer Broadbent Brown
Sinclair Clarke Sercombe
Bodin Harrison Nichols
Subs: Slocombe, Burn, Clarke, Bola, Lines, Moore, Gaffney
Interchangeable front 3 and Sinclair for Lines will just make us that bit more solid against a team that will surely be up there this season and likely be a tough test.

I don't know what we're worried about? I thought we held our own against them last year. 😂

I agree regarding what you've said about Gafney , Harrison is too static and lazy to be a lone striker where as Gaf will pull defenders around to make the space for the likes of sercombe and Bodin to strike. I'd go for that team and formation too.

I have given up on this one - far too difficult to work out an effective shape. I suspect that we will sacrifice the additional wide man (Byron Moore) to enable us to accommodate a midfield 5 of
Lines, Clarke (O), The Beard, Sercombe and Bodin
Gaffers up front on his own(ish)
PS: Signing Sweeney would make a massive difference IMHO, as I think DC would consider playing a back 3 rather than a 4
