Im not one for doom and gloom post but in light of the recent activity and press release of UWE stadium not happening I have grave concearns regarding DC cant help thinking this is the snake saga all over again signs a new contract then scarpers 6 months later. As we all know DC signed a 5 year contract which was good business on Rovers part means he can't be poached without compo being paid but I'm questioning if they already knew that the UWE was dead in the water prior to Dc signing and have pulled the wool over his eyes. We all know how ambitious and what good manager he is given the limited resources the results speak for that imagine what he could do with say Blackburns budget If the board were to sack him they would have to pay compo and if another club came in for DC then they would have to pay Rovers compo, but what happens if DC decides to resign as the club are not meeting his expectations and needs to take the club forward. Technically he is just an employee of Bristol Rovers and any employee can resign form their postion and we've seen enough managers resign over the years Steve Bruce Hull being a good example. Is it not worrying that DC could just walk away or get poached by another club now the deals fallen through for the UWE ?

How about f**k off and mods close this shitfest ? If you include that I'll vote. This thread was created after reading various comments on the other thread regarding concearns on player investment, structure of the club, how effects the morale of staff and players all this was taken in to context. Many of you are questioning wether the board has the collateral to support such ambition, whilst others are behind the board Like I said im not one for writing doom and gloom posts and threads so i'll leave that to BB he's the King of Doom and Gloom. This thread was written out of passion for the club by concearned supporter who has supported the gas for over 40 years. Its a worrying thought as DC is probably the best manager we've had in the time ive been supporting the gas and this has to be a kick in the teeth for Dc given how ambitious and passionate he is about the club, I would be gutted along with many others to lose him because the board lacks the passion and funds to go forward.

Bloody good job i didnt start this thread!!! Any manager knows he is always 5-10 matches from the sack and dc would know that he could be long gone before any new ground was built. He is a professional football man and signed a new and improved contract for his own security. Football fans and owners are very fickle and like any other manager if we at anytime struggle in the league he will be under pressure. This dc and players wanting a pretty ground is a load of crap, its all about money and security. Do all the legions of very fine players going to china make sure the facilities are nice and up to date? No is the answer

This type of thread helps no one. OK we've had something announced that we expected but why add fuel to a fire? Let's see what the club has to say over the next couple of days.

At the very worst, DC would get poached by another club. In which case they would have to pay up the compensation for his 5 year contract which might be a reasonable sum. Not that this would be good news for the club, but getting him to sign that 5 year contract could be a masterstroke.

How can you have a vote where all the options are pretty much the same.
Perhaps we could turn this thread into a competition for the most crass multiple choice question.I'll start:
Who was rovers best manager of all time: Paul buckle Mark McGhee Dave Penney Ian Atkins Ray Graydon

Well the law of averages, and the perverse way of football, suggests that he will go one day. As sure as night follows day. So I guess at some point somebody will be in the right place to say "Told you so" for this self fulfilling prophecy if we keep talking about it long enough.

I have to say, the more I think about it the more I think he'll now be gone within the next 3-4 months.
DC's original aim was to get us back in to the top 10 of L1 - he's done that.
He signed a new 5 year contract because our "ceiling" was growing and he could continue ambitious journey with us.
Today's news not only effectively means he's pretty much probably taken us as far as he can, but I'd also imagine a large reason for him signing a new 5-year contract was likely the promise of the club continuing to progress on and off the field and with a new stadium. So not only will he be devastated today, but I'd also imagine he's feeling like his been lied to or - at the very least - misled.
Unless we have a shocking start (or season), clubs will come knocking. Where we maybe had a chance of holding on to him previously, I'm now pretty much certain he'll be gone at the first opportunity (if a bigger club/better opportunity [of which there will be many more following yesterday's developments] make an approach).
