with all the commotion last night, reading various things and thinking about it in the cold light of day, I just thought I needed to put some thoughts into words
18 months or so ago when the Al-Qadi's took over it was like a breath of fresh air, a new broom sweeping all the crap from the past away.
Whether we would have got promoted or not come that May if the takeover hasn't of happened, who knows, but I don't think anyone can deny that the club felt lifted, there was a buzz going around. Whether that was because we had got rid of the old board, or we had 'Billionaire' (sic) owners, or simply the Bars seeing a lick of paint for the first time in nearly 20 years
Since promotion, we had a good stab in league one and we (or Dwane more specify )recently purchased new land for the Training ground, we have been seeing the youth department of the club expand exponentially in recent weeks, new staff, countless players. All positive signs for the future.
But there was always UWE. Nick Higgs' legacy project, the one he was seemingly would do anything to bulid, and at what cost.
The Al-Qadi's inherited it. On paper it should have been easy, but nothing ever really is, is it and as of now we don't know the in's and outs and the fine detail (and probably won't ever)
Who knows what the future holds, whilst I am disappointed we are back to square one with a ground setting us back years (again) on that front, I have never felt as good about Rovers in the last 18 months than I ever have. in 18 months more has been done to the infrastructure of the club , than in the 18 years prior and purchasing The Mem.
The Al-Qadi's were the new broom, but there was always that bit of sh** (in UWE) stuck in the corner. It's gone now. The Al-Qadi's finally have their clean slate. Maybe we were sold a dream, or a lie or whatever word you want to use, but now the ball is all in The Al-Qadi's court with no lingering remants of the past
Whatever happens, (and I don't think Wael wants this to fail) Don't forget, it was us fans that built roof's, or bailed the club out when we were going out the league first time round. We are still here, and we always will be; I hope
You can be half full, or half empty, but think back. What have you done in 18 months?
