I find this really distasteful. Anyway, you'll all be sheepish when it turns out we are just playing hardball and the uwe gets agreed.

Mods, for christs sake can this thread.Nothing but an outright insult to our owners. I disagree, the Al Qadi's need to know that many of us are not happy with explanations and apparent lack of any credible alternative plan. Yeh but have a bit of decency in doing so,no need at all for this type of insult.

Mods, for christs sake can this thread.Nothing but an outright insult to our owners. The owners who have said nothing about the UWE project until their hand was forced, blind faith and rose tinted spectacles got us relegated to non league football. Why should they be put on such a pedestal? Did you not hear Steve Hamers patronising interview today ?

Still gobsmacked.... Wow! Are you attacking the posters not the posts? Oh yes so you are, so you can have some back. The only belters on this thread are the condescending happy clappers like you who seem to think the way this whole sorry episode came to an end with no direct communication from the hero worshiped AQs to the fans is all fine and dandy. Likewise Hamers totally disrespectful "we can be the new crazy gang" sh**e, that's all ok too! This is 8 years of planning and costs down the pan which if it's genuinely for the best then fine but to me and many others this feels like a lowering of our ambition and a lowering of our expectations because there has been no meaningful communication. If me and others getting upset about that makes us belters then it makes you and the other happy clappys not getting upset Sh1!heads, because you seem to be as happy as they are!

Couple of observations. Steve Hamer stated quite clearly that we had submitted heads of terms to UWE, which though not binding, was the precursor to the final contract. The UWE vice chancellor stated, that they were waiting for a heads of terms to be submitted.
Simple question: Who is telling the porkies?
Someone said we are better off now than 5 years ago. Our losses are now over double of those 5 years ago. We are signing more and more players and back room staff, how safe do they feel given our current losses?
Have we paid all our bills to date, or have we been threatened with court action over non payment?

Redeveloping the Mem will see us behind them forever and end our chances of ever being anything better than we are. I dont subscribe to that. Bournemouth prove that isn't the case, Brentford have gone up and done well, Burton have shot up the leagues, even clubs like QPR have proved you can do alright with a limited capacity, Millwalls ground isn't much bigger either. Its not the end of the World to redevelop The Mem. Obviously not being able to expand to over 18,000 isn't ideal, but its far better than what we've had for the last 32 years. I think the 18k capacity would be fine but is the site suitable for substantially more retail and eating outlets and conference facilities? There is a lot more space for this at ashton gate but it seems less feasible at the mem to me.

In fairness we have paid fees for nicholls and sercombe and signed 2 established keepers who will all be on decent salary and 2 or 3 year deals in my view. The deadline is still nearly a month away so i think were likely to see more signings.

I think the "fake sheik" thread title is very insulting. I think most of us feel subdued and concerned about things right now but its too early by a long way to turn on our owner and make him out to be a "venky" or an "oyston". My optimism has been shaken by the rumours of doom and gloom but i am prepared to believe that the UWE deal as it stood was not a good one for our club. Why not believe that such a thing could well be true?

No it was a combination of a clueless boardroom who employed terrible managers who employed terrible footballers with a terrible attitude that got us relegated to non league. To call the likes of those Supporters who turned up week in week out rose tinters during those hard times is a fuckng disgrace. I guess you turned your back on the club at that point or were you one of us with blind faith ?

Our new owners have done more for this club than any previous owners in my 35 years supporting the Gas. If they hadn't come in we would have almost certainly lost the best manager we've probably ever had. Lost most of our best players after winning back to back promotions and be well on our way to becoming the next Coventry.

Are you forgetting that 31 years ago Rovers were handed over to Denis and Geoff Dunford by owners who were not prepared to put any more of their money into the club ? These owners, Barry Bradshaw and Martin Flook, had tried but failed to make us sustainable so they wrote off their losses and passed the club to other Gasheads which saved us from going out of business. Four years later we were in the Championship and twelve years later we were able to acquire the Memorial Stadium which is now worth £11 million. All this was achieved through the new owners, led by Denis and Geoff, investing their own cash and taking responsibility for a low level of borrowing. There was never any question of them securing the money they had put into the club through a charge over it's assets because, as genuine supporters, it was capital they were prepared to risk for the good of Bristol Rovers.

I stand corrected I was 6 at the time your talking about I remember the twerton years but before that is a blur , I still think that Wael has our best interests at heart and isn't in it to asset strip the club like some seem to think he also seems to understand the game in a way previous owners haven't and I love the fact that he's given DC and our best players good deals to keep them here. Under Gerry Francis we had great success but the board never backed him or the players financially with wages or incentives ( maybe because they couldn't financially - fair enough )Francis had to pay for Holloway himself) our training ground was crap our offices and changes mg rooms were shipping containers and as soon as we had success those managers and players were off. Also Francis built that squad from a shoe string budget during one of our hardest times , I don't see this as one of our hardest times in fact I believe it's one of our strongest times in recent history. There's a professional set up back room staff sports scientists land purchased for a new state of the art training facility etc. In that respect he's given us more than we've had in my time.
