Announced something positive? You see, do you want to be drip fed iot keep us happy? I'd rather honest, valuable information over positive spin. The real stuff is less frequent which is where the frustration is coming from. Well you said spin, not me! The owners have more control over timing than anyone else (not complete control as shown by Thursday evenings events). I would have thought they'd have liked to have countered bad news like that with something positive (not spin). Something like "we're not building at UWE, but we've identified this site and here's some initial plans". We are clearly nowhere near that stage. Wael has said nothing. If he's at Charlton, I don't think he's in for a smooth ride. That's all I was trying to say. Like I said to Topper - how much does identifying another site and drawing up initial plans cost and how long does it take? Surveyors. Architects. Accountants. Lawyers. Building a stadium isn't like going on holiday - if one thing falls through you can't just go "ok here's what we'll do instead".

I spoke to him via instagram the other day and he replied to every question I put to him. I posted some of the info on another thread. Long and short of it is that the deal wasn't good enough for the club. They stated what was acceptable and had until July 31 to meet the proposal. UWE didn't come back. The club also had to do another round of planning and feasibility studies because the environment changed. That took time. Wael's massive concern was the fact that it was out of town, we would become a nomad club, with a massive facility away from central Bristol where there isn't the number of residential properties to make use of what a stadium can offer. (I do see his point on this). My own personal opinion is that we will be looking for a site at Cribbs Causeway, my thinking is possibly the existing training ground site and whatever Clifton Rugby Club have. We have an existing relationship there, maybe the landowners would like to do a deal...?? Better transport links, close to the mall, not so out of town, not far from our current location. Gashead1981 this makes a little scene! maybe that's why they did not buy it for our training ground, they head a bigger picture planned for the land? I have just had a look on google earth and the existing training ground and Clifton rugby club together has more land than the UWE. Even has a train line (Henbury Loop) running by the side of it! perfect!!

This episode has certainly shown who are the strong fans and who are the weak ones. After hearing all the interviews my view is that the present regime had to overcome the previous regimes contract with UWE. We are seeking a better one for our club and ito long term future so isn't that better? All this fear talk about everyone leaving isn't based on fact and is counter productive, what is the point of that? My advice to the weak who have an immature need to call owners and employees of our club names is to be strong, stop moaning think positive and support the club as well as the team. RE - the bit in bold. The fear is based on the very clear fact that Dwayne Sports have placed a charge against the Mem. The spending we are seeing is not from the AQs injecting money that they are prepared to lose. At any point the debt can be called in, and that will leave the club homeless. I don't think fans are being weak for recognising this. I think we are realising that serious questions need to be asked We as a fanbase can't afford to be apathetic. If the worse were to happen I couldn't sleep at night feeling I saw it coming but decided to say nothing in favour if "keeping the faith". EDIT: Probably worth saying I don't agree with the way many fans are expressing concern. We need to keep it respectable. Very calmly and well explained. The Al Qadis are indeed ensuring all money put into the club is by way of loan and is effectively guaranteed by the value of the Mem. Hopefully, if they are in for the long-haul then some or all of the loan will be converted into shares which cannot be withdrawn. If they did that then I'd feel more comfortable about the losses and loans being provided.

My advice to the weak who have an immature need to call owners and employees of our club names is to be strong, stop moaning think positive and support the club as well as the team. Everyone should be a bit more respectful, no need at all for the Wally comment. I for one have never called for anything other than patience with the club over the UWE ordeal, trusting that they will do the best for the club. I have not shared the view that the owners are going to walk & leave us in the lurch. However, I too have heard all the interviews & my view is that the club has handled the announcement in a shockingly poor way. This in turn, especially after hearing the SH comments, makes me & many others question what on earth has gone wrong with the deal. We can talk all we like about the previous deal, but surely during due diligence DS should have known what kind of contract if any was in place, and even if they didn't they have had 18 months, employed supposedly, highly respected & experienced individuals to work on the deal. During one of SH early interviews on the matter he said compromise will be needed from both sides. Thurs he said the issues re leasehold/ freehold was sorted, he also said there was no financial issues so of course people feel frustrated as to why then is it not going ahead - you could hear as much in 20man's voice. It is obvious that the 2 parties didn't get on that well. By all accounts! the club had an opportunity to announce a press conference on Tues, they didn't. My view is that as this was potentially the biggest event in the clubs history, they should be asked questions & given a chance to state the facts - we would have absolutely demanded that of the last regime. It may well be that the costs were not viable, but we also know the club is spending significantly more money than it currently generates, so we should also be asking, how this is going to be funded & how is the training ground plans going to be funded. How long before collateral in the Mem runs out? Now is the time they should start communicating effectively with supporters. The club certainly has my support but works both ways - I want there to be a club that my grandkids can take their kids to watch the team. its not weak to have different views I think if we don't challenge & ask questions of our owners at this time, we never will. All the best.

Have to agree, why not make the deadline next Wednesday then have a press conference lined up when Wael's in the country? Or perhaps they thought the UWE would concede some ground but that then contradicts Wael's comments about the ground being in the wrong location (where's the link to that post?).
As far as posters saying Weal as to look for alternatives I assume they appreciate get to where we are now could take up to a decade, how much potential revenue could we lose during that time, will the ALQ's still be around, will they even still have the money, will football be even still such a big money ticket.

I know this is a bit of a long shot but North Bristol Rugby/South Glos FA in Almondsbury has a fair bit of land not sure who owns what maybe its worth striking up a deal with them to buy the land, offer pittance rent or even free rent to use the facilties win win situtation for both.

He seems to have various conversations with fans on social media, which is really good of him. But this type of statement should have been at a press conference. Good shout about Cribbs, but his concerns about being out of town, really? Big housing estate & university on the doorstep. With the rail links & bus services, I would have thought it more accessible than Cribbs.

I did exactly the same!! Only because I started to think....where else in Bristol could we realistically put a stadium. Here or Rolls Royce area are the only viable plots. RR and Fulton runway are expensive plots and earmarked for other forms of development. The site at Cribbs is an existing sports ground, can still be used for all the same purposes it is now if a stadium was built on it. Very close to our training ground site, so effectively everything will be in a very close radius. Add to that its positioning to major shopping areas and on a direct route into Bristol. It could be the perfect site...

Is this not the kind of thing he pays Hamer for? I don't think Wael needs to make a statement really

I said Hamer looked ill prepared, uninformed and uncomfortable and that his press conferences were a disaster and that heneeded to address the fans. He didn't disagree.

It's always been this since the very beginning of the club as a professional outfit. Why the fuss now??
