Further to my earlier post. Wasn't this the bloke there was a thread about pre season, and he went somewhere else?
But the BEP say he was a free agent.
I see he's actually one of those players I typed about all summer. Wants to play in the football league, so won't drop to Conference. Football season starts, doesn't have a club and decides it's better to play in the conference than collect trolleys at the local supermarket.

Hmm, this signing hints at a pressing of the panic button. Have to ask the questions:
Why did he not play all last season?
Why did several league clubs turn him down after he trialled with them over the summer?
It's possible we may have a diamond on our hands, but I'd suggest it's more likely a player who after a couple of bad injuries, is not capable of playing at the level he once did.

This fella is a left winger, so i guess he will be the replacement for Martin, who IMO had a shocker on Saturday, mind you, so did all the other outfield players.

Don't think Martin has been that bad overall. In the first half of the Halifax game he got round his man and put in some very teasing crosses. Think it would be incredibly harsh and unfair to write him off just yet considering how shockingly bad EVERYONE was on Saturday.
I'm pleased with Balanta's signing as it was clear we needed to improve our play in the final third of the pitch and when he's fully fit I think his pace and trickery will be a very useful weapon for us. He has been a target all summer so I think labelling him a panic signing is inaccurate, although it's fair to say NH may have agreed to up the terms offered in order to get him in now.
His career has seemingly been on a downward trajectory recently but Yeovil fans seem to think he was a decent player at L1 level and his failed trials this summer may have something to do with a lack of match fitness having spent a year not playing for QPR. DC has clearly wanted him for months now so he's got his wish - fingers crossed he can get the best out of him.

I hope AB realises how lucky he is to be offered a chance with Rovers. Clearly he needs to get natch fit and adopt the right attitude and show desire and commitment. IF he can do that, then I can see the likes of him and Ellis H causing havoc ... but there is a big "if" in my statement. Let's hope he passes his medical and then does the business (perhaps in a bout 2 or 3 weeks?)

Initally went to Bradford on trial then on to Southend, it seems like most players signed in recent years he only joined us as a last resort. I can't recall the last time a player joined us rather than accept an offer from another club?

Please with that. Monkhouse can do one now. I wonder what changed his mind about joining us? Cash, always cash. It's really good for changing people's minds

I don't care if he only joined is for the money, providing he earns it with outstanding performances. On paper, Balanta is the player we have needed for years. Good luck to the lad.

Exactly, I think a lot are worried by our previous regarding this sort of player though. That's understandable, I am too to an extent. Still only 24 though, so has a lot to prove. It's two levels below where he's played before, so he's either going to stand out as an very talented player in the Conference or ultimately fail, like Riordan et al. in League Two.
