Never played league before so just a thought - he's built like a brick sh** house, ain't slow and seemingly has an eye for goal, he likes to go at people and can score a free kick or two! Maybe he can adapt as a centre forward target man type or even a general all round forward as well as a defender? What do you think? I'm just thinking he's maybe too good to sit as back up to sweeney and might be able to offer something different as a utility man. He'd be a useful battering ram and would give teams something to seriously think about creating space for others to take advantage of. Unless we sign someone else in that mould before the end of the window of course. I just don't see Ellis or gaffney as that real physical threat but obviously have their other qualities.

Could be a good option to bring on when we are chasing a game against a team sitting back. A bit like Fellaini for Utd I supposed.

Remember when Mark McGhee used to play Tom Parkes on the left wing?

Why isn't Ellis Harrison a physical presence ? I don't think L1 defenders think it's going to be a walk in the park when they're up against him. He may not be Rickie Lambert on the deck but he is strong and has a good leap. Broadbent is Sweeney's understudy he's just made his league debut - let him learn to be a defender at a higher level.

Very strange comment to make " Understudy" having seen both play, Broadbent on Saturday and Sweeney tonight you would be hard fought to tell what one had come from a Premier Club !!

Back in the day wasn't Carl Saunders a defender for Stoke before he joined us. sometimes managers have to look at the hidden attributes of the player, how about Tom Broadbent as our new big centre forward?
