Two players who I believe will be really good for the team this season, general consensus from our group was that either of them could/should have been man of the match.

I have seen nothing to suggest that Nicholls will score 20+ goals and therefore am certainly not going to suggest at this time that he will be better than Taylor. those whjo suggest this have very short memories. Had you seen anything to suggest that Matty Taylor would score 20+ plus goals, certainly at League 1 level? He only scored 1 goal in about his first 20 games in The Conference. People do indeed have very short memories

We've got a proper player on our hands here. Tackles, heads, picks up the pieces, passes well, box to box, eye for goal, and most impressively of all he has good feet and good footballing brain and touch in tight situations. When we signed him I looked at his videos and thought he was a box to boxer with an eye for goal. After watching WBA, Charlton and tonight, I think I seriously underestimated his ability. And I was thinking this before his goal and I take this after 3 games, not just tonight against weak opposition. Also was impressed with Nichols attitude tonight. Clearly desperate for a goal but battled well against monster centre halves, kept working and showed real quality. Only seen him the once but have to say he is everything you say. A superb midfield performance last night. Showed everything I hoped for.

I think Sercombe and Nicholls are both very good players and great signings but to compare Nicholls to Taylor at the moment is neither fair on him o9r Taylor. I take the point about the early Conference days of Matty Taylor but I am talking about Nicholls being a 20 plus goals per season, I just can't see it but time will tell.

I you were him wouldn't you want your catchphrase to be "You've been Sercombe-sized"? I suppose you could say that, in the Sercombe - stances. I thought the way he Sercombe -navigated their defense for the goal was awesome We did them all last night

Imho Nicholls will be a much better player for us than Taylor was.Shows much better quality than the snake. You come to that conclusion from 1 game at home to cambridge? No from the times I've seen him play before young us,plus pre season.

Did you not read the next sentence? But you're putting your point across as if we were all in the stands at Aldershot like "Ah that Matty will never score goals in League 1". By the time it came to us having to actually question whether he would, most of us knew he would.

I put the point across as if people were saying Matty Taylor would never score 20+ in a season full stop. Even in The Conference, which they did. Let alone League 2 or League 1. He went onto become our most prolific striker for 20 years. That was my point, and I'm just highlighting why people shouldn't write off Tom Nichols from doing similar.

Just a shame Sinclair is being played on the left bloody wing I like Sinclair there! Can tuck in to help the midfield, adds energy, frightens the full back with his pace and pressing. He's not going to take anyone on from a standing start, but runs in behind instead.
Moving him off the left wing on Saturday sapped all of the energy from our attack.
Fair points - especially the bit about tucking in to help the midfield. Sinclair playing on the left allows us to play 4-4-2 but also have 3 CMs in the middle when the opposition attack. Not sure I'd start him on the left over a more attacking wide player in every game, but for tough ones it's definitely an option.

I thought that Byron Moore played really well when he came on, some of the inter-play with Lee Brown, Tom Nicholls and Rory Gaffney was sublime. Early doors I know, but could he make the left wing his starting position this season?

Something seemed to click with him in our last game v Millwall at the end of last season - he was brilliant that day and showed how dangerous and effective he can be. Think we'll see the player we hoped we'd signed this year providing he can stay relatively injury free.
