I get worried when people are slating and slagging off wael etc. He said when he took over if "the fans" ever wanted him to go then he would. Im sure people can ask searching questions without resorting to abusive comments and calling him a "fake sheik" etc. I think hes done a lot for the club since the takeover and has supported the manager with numerous signings including decent transfer fees paid out for partington, nicholls and sercombe. What next? Boo him if he turns up at home games? maybe drive him away and stop him going to home games?

I think you should be more worried about the impact this last week has had on the fan base rather than a couple of individuals who have been at best economic with the facts and totally inconsistent in what they are saying now, to what they were saying just a few months ago. I do not buy into your statement "he's done a lot for the club" - is it really anymore than any other self respecting owner would have done - what have they actually delivered apart from a mounting debt. Please don't reply saying they are much more professional than previous BOD's (like some on here seem to think) - the last week has shown just how unprofessional they are with their handling of this sorry saga. If you believe the AQ's are in it for the long haul and are the saviours of our football club, IMO you are mistaken. They will be gone as soon as they can untangle themselves from the sorry mess this club now finds itself in. Wael took the plaudits when things were going well - he now has to expect critucism - although in no way would I condone personal abuse.

People Get a grip ! If DC pulls a miracle and gets us promoted, people will be lining up to buy the club We all live in hope that we MAY get a updated mem sometime in the future and i wish WAQ well in his dealings with BCC but i not going to hold my breath with the amount of tree hugging idiots in the council at the moment

the parking around the Mem is horrible already, a bigger stadium, and let's face it when attendances are 8k it can be difficult to park, if we were to sell out an 18k or whatever it might be, you be lucky to park in the same post code.
There will be lots of objections and I personally don't see it ever getting going.
Wael ought to swallow his pride and get back around the table with UWE, a Mem full redevelopment is 10 years away or not happening.

Some of our fans have very short memories.
Before the Al-Qadis came in we were facing repayment of a loan for which we had no money. Higgs et al would not have been able to make payment [having staked everything on a positive high court outcome, which didnt happen]. We would probably now be tenants in the mem with eviction likely.
Without the Al-Qadis DC would have already gone, the previous board would have snapped up compensation for the above reasons and Darrell would have had his head turned. DC is always very complimentary about the ambition of the owners.
Do some on here not get it? you don't build £30m of stadium on land you may not have influence on in the future. It is clear that leasehold was only sustainable to Higgs who was desperate to get it built. The Al-Qadis and UWE were clearly unable to agree on either the cost of the Freehold or some aspects of overlapping infrastructure [perhaps access, parking etc].
Ultimately without Wael the club may have gone to the wall or be close to it now. Some fans need to ignore their WUM ted mates, who revel in planting seeds in their minds and be pleased we have owners who aren't going to play russian roulette with our assets.

Newblue, The colony and the Mem are assets owned by DS. The company who own BRFC.
If the club was sold the company purchased would be DS.

They paid down various debts that were outstanding when they arrived. They have clearly improved funds available for the team - the previous board didn't give managers a pot to water in - cash flow is clearly less of an issue than under the old board. The point remains that without the Al Qadis, we would have a high-interest debt that would have been payable some time ago with no way to pay. You don't need to be too savvy to work out where it was going to end up. I consider our assets to be the Mem [ yes i am aware there is now a charge on it, within the ownership framework] and DC. DC would have gone a long time ago [Leeds?] if the old board were still here. Do you really think we wouldn't be close to bankruptcy under the old board? We had a debt with no real chance of repayment. Would you buy a house on a leasehold with terrible terms? or buy freehold for well over the odds? I think not. I could see future generations of Gasheads cursing us, if Dwayne had sanctioned a leasehold deal which turned sour 25-60 years down the line and we effectively did Eastville all over again.

Understand your reasoning. However the debt continues to rise and there will need to be, I would guess in excess of £5m to develop The Colony before we even think about the Mem. As I've said before our owners are Investment Bankers, by definition they will want a ROI - the won't keep pushing money toward this club IMO. Why did they buy the club in the first place - I would guess one significant reason being PP - they wouldn't have bought the club to re- develop the Mem that's for sure. We are still in debt - presumably to AJIB and their shareholders - will they keep funding - who knows. The next 12 months will be interesting for sure - but the level of trust at the moment has been dented.

I just cant see the point of trying to turn wael into an "oyston" or a "venky". His only crime is to pull out of the uwe project because its not a sensible commercial project for him or the football club.

Wael is a legend, best thing to happen to our club in a very long time.. has done nothing wrong an everything right. I love the fact we can say no, no have our pants pulled down and nod to every beck and call.
He should have red carpet laid for him everytime he enters the mem.. sod it construct a statue of him.. everything is great right now.. so optimistic about our future..
