One of the future "green" initiatives might be a platform at dovercourt road/old muller rd B&Q area. Would certainly give supporters another travel option. As would "football" park n rides from maybe school/college/uni carparks around the city. They could operate jointly with Bristol city and the rugby club and the cricket club.
There was a station the other side of the bridge called Ashley Hill. It was closed in 1964 (as part of the Beeching cuts?). There have been several proposals to re-open it, including Gloucestershire Cricket, and all have been supported by BCC, but have all floundered, probably due to lack of money!! Then perhaps now is the time to start petitioning the council ? Maybe Wael needs to have a chat with Gloucestershire cricket club ? get the ball rolling.
Im guessing it was where station lane comes off muller road and where on the otherside of the tracks station road runs up towards Ashley down road. Putting the platform about 4-500 metres from the cricket ground (and college) and say 1000-1500 metres (?) from the Mem ? and Gloucester road shops ,pubs and businesses. Also about a 1000 metres from Tesco and the Eastgate centre.
Sounds like a pro active thing the council SHOULD help happen.
EDIT: Would be better still if the line had the short connection to the Montpelier/Redland stations line reconnected too ,offering more flexible mobility for citizens of Bristol.

Wael is a legend, best thing to happen to our club in a very long time.. has done nothing wrong an everything right. I love the fact we can say no, no have our pants pulled down and nod to every beck and call. He should have red carpet laid for him everytime he enters the mem.. sod it construct a statue of him.. everything is great right now.. so optimistic about our future.. I detect an element of satire in this post. Not at all, just facts and figures my man, quit being little girls everyone. while the positives outway the negatives 10 fold i will 100% support Wael and co. The man nothing but impresses me everytime i heard him or more often seeing the action he is putting in place. The deal was not right for UWE, we dont need it on their terms anymore, so stop being a little girl.

Terrible error from me. Rather dead than red So transparent. Shithead. yeah right, you would be more suited to them, with all the whining like a girl you do. if you want to see how negativity works in a club look at the sh**heads, millions spent each year and still no team spirit or identity. For the first time in my life the spirit and togetherness of the squad, staff and players is amazing.. be careful what you wish for my girl that's all i will say.

How do we know the UWE wasn't right, what evidence is there to say that in a year or so the Mem isn't considered right? As far as team spirit etc didn't we have that well before Wael arrived when we were in the Conference?

Umm because Wael went into some detail yesterday about commercially it not being right for rovers, and the blatant fact the deadline that was put in place was missed. Its simple, he is an investment banker, I think the evidence that he has not gone through with the deal suggests it was not a "good" investment, i doubt the family would get very far with making bad investments. he also said, he has the top top people in property that looked at this and they deemed it not good on those terms. I am LOVING the fact we are now in a position to say NO deal, rather than higgs just emotionally selling us down the river, not intentional as he is obviously rovers through and through. The team spirit, and the amount of staff he has recruited is great. let me ask you a question, do you think there is a chance in hell DC would still be with us if it wasnt for Wael?

Following the collapse of the UWE deal, we currently have no idea of the Al-Qadi family's commitment to the club. We don't know why the deal fell through, we don't know anything about the plans for the Mem, Wael went into no detail at all. We don't know why. Maybe the family, as investment bankers, no longer see the club as good an investment as they did before. Maybe they do. I don't see how several people on here can possibly say this is good news. At best it is uncertain news. I'm certainly not jumping up and down celebrating.
