Out of interest to see how many fans are not a fan of Ellis and how many are. I personally am a fan and think he has the potential to be a good player if consistent. he's a gas player so I support him but he frustrates me more than anybody in our squad because he could be so much better/consistent. He's like a fit mrs who refuses to sleep with you often! Yeah It could be great once in a blue moon but you are left more frustrated than not most of the time!!! Haha! I love this fair play 👍

Am I the only one annoyed by the "why is" at the start of the thread title?

I just think hes a decent player with limitations,im hoping that dc sticks with him on the left side of a front 3 as it gets him facing goal more often. Most of the best of ellis has come about when hes facing goal as he can be real handful in that situation. In the target man role he makes a good go at it because hes very strong but its not really his position imo. Its harder to be consistent in forward positions as its easier to destroy than create and ellis has been inconsistent its true.

I do get why some people are critical of him because at times last year, he just didn't get into games at all. But he's been given another chance by DC and I'm going to judge him by what he's doing now this year.
From the three games ive seen, (Charlton, Cambridge, Bury) he already looks a more mature player and on saturday, the 433 shape with Nichols and Bodin supporting looked to suit his game. You couldn't fault his work rate in any of those games and some of his link up play was very good. My only criticism would be that he needs to be a bit more aggressive inside the box and show more desire to get into better scoring positions. Lets not forget, he's only 23 and still has his best years ahead of him.

I respect your opinion but the things you are saying I have been saying every season and wonder how many times you can say them befote enough is enough. Last season at the start it looked like he was going to improve but he's not progressed on from then tbh. Certainly can't see any improvement so far this season.

He hasn't looked out of place in the team this year. He's not a weak link in the side. If people think we need more strike options then fine but that shouldn't be a reason to refuse to acknowledge all the good things he is doing! I've seen plenty of posters on here who were critical of DC chopping and changing the team too much but then the same people aren't willing to give players a run in the team to find form. We're only 4 games into the season! The lads doing fine

He's a big contributor to the dressing room spirit. He's also an honest lad that holds his hands up to mistakes and below par performances. I'd rather have him than Micky Adams, Lee Matthews, Paul Tait etc. etc. but I'd have to drop him to play Rammell, Lambert, Walker or Agogo! Still the more we back him and support him then the more likely it is that we will see more often the exciting unstoppable force that he can be.

Perhaps DC's budget predicts he doesn't need to improve, just remain the same standard, as I assumed when DC released Monty that he'd be signing a better LW but that hasn't materialised so far. Anyway a big week or two for Harrison, & Gaffney, with Fulham, Fleetwood and the televised Bradford games up next.

People get on to him because he simply shouldn't be a first choice, league 1 striker in a team with a supposed now decent budget.....the fact he has no real pace, skill, finesse or a good goal return after having chance, after chance, after chance to prove otherwise may also erk most!...more than happy if was considered 3rd/4th choice impact sub etc but to spearhead an attack on the top6, come on!

I'm not anti-Harrison, I'm anti-limited ability players in general. He's not been good for any period of time, and I can't see it ever happening at this point.
He doesn't do himself any favours as far as the fans are concerned. If you're having a poor game the least you should do is bust a gut and act as if you care. People are more inclined to back someone who puts in a shift. Matt LeTissier got away with strolling around but he had game and scored goals. Unfortunately, Mr Harrison fails on both counts.
