He hadnt played the ball at that point! Was trying to get the picture at the right point when Sercombe played the ball and the above picture is accurate, onside by the skin of his teeth. 15 plays him on just.

He hadnt played the ball at that point! Well if he was off then that is justice for the Charlton goal. What goes around.

Yes but not is 15 (Madl) stood up straight maybe? I doubt Madl would of stood up straight and stopped running back unless he was absolutely certain that Harrison was offside, which he wasn't.

Great finish from Ellis. It shows what he's capable of and why so many people rate him and also why they get so frustrated with him.

offside ? the linesman said onside and that's ALL that matters.
Good decision to run it around the keeper rather than trying to break the net with a blast (which more likely would have been off target). Keep making the correct decisions Ellis and your goal tally will climb.

The offside rule isn't absolutely clear.
It says that if any of the body parts (ooh err mrs), excluding the arms, of the potential offender are in front of the opponent, then it's offside, but it doesn't define what part of the body of the defender is to be included.
If it's just his head, then EH is onside, but if it's his body, then he's offside.

He hadnt played the ball at that point! This was the last point at which I could freeze the photo. It goes to show how close the margins are for the assistant ref. The next frame the ball had travelled forward quite a bit (however far a ball can travel in 1/32nd of a second- the frame speed). In the next frame the defender had moved forward as had Ellis. At the end of the day who gives a sh1t, it was a goal - given fairly and legally as in the best judgement of the linesman (bearing in mind the atrocious decision by an Assistant ref at the Charlton game!!)

Assistant referee cannot freeze frame the pass to Ellis in his head, so element of doubt should always go to the attacking team, end of subject
