After beating Fulham away and making 5 changes we beat a side who haven't conceded a goal or dropped a point in their first three games. We seem to have quality and cover in every position, maybe left wing and striker could be tweaked a bit more. I am very confident we can override injuries and suspensions to make a challenge this season. Also I would imagine DC has room in his budget for the second window shopping to push us over the line. Is this the best squad (not team) ever?

squads used to be a lot smaller so difficult to say. The 70s team could only use 1 sub. I think there were only 15 or so players who were realistically going to play. Gerry Francis' squad, from memory was also pretty small. can't remember if it was still 1 sub or 2/3 by then.
This squad is stronger then last season. I'd say it's on a par to Holloway's squads. Although that squad had more firepower - Cureton, Hayles, Roberts and Zamora.

Pitt.Warren. Sampson. Pether bridge. Biggs. Lambden.Bradford. hooper

Possibly but a squads strength is to be assessed after a season perhaps?

Linesy may be able to ping today's beach balls 50 yards but those lead balloons when saturated wouldn't be kickable in today's paper boots.

Rough diamond I'd say, bags of potential though and good to watch based on yesterday. Still a bit shaky at both ends at the moment but confident most if not all have scope to improve

I think the OP means deepest squad, in which case, I would say yes. When was the last time we had two goalkeepers of our own who were both worthy of playing in the first team, for instance?

I would say it's the best since we bottled the playoffs in 1999-00.

This is the point of the post. I remember the 50's side and we lost out on a spot in today's Prem when Geoff was injured.

Silly me. Didn't say that but your 20.0 prediction is laughable.I still feel players of the calibre of Bradford and biggs would not only score but cause untold problems for lockyer and sweeney and can you imagine the effect of Peter hooper shooting from 30 yards with the new style beach ball when he could score from that distance with the ball they played with

To put things in perspective, i was at a family get together last night. I ran into the kitchen and asked my young niece have you got a phone book? She and her smart ass friends laughed and said i was old and passed me her mobile phone.
To cut a long story short: Spider dead, Phone broken, Niece crying hysterically in living room.
