4 league games and two cup games in. Goals scored in league without brackets, league cup with brackets.
It's a fairly respectable tally so far from our strikers, without any goals from penalties, against some pretty good sides you'd expect to be at the top end of the league (if you excuse of course Cambridge). We're averaging 1.75 per game in the league, 2 if you include the cup. Last season, this sort of tally would put you in the hunt for automatic promotion.
If Nichols starts scoring I think we'd be in a healthy position, especially as Telford has hardly had a chance yet.
Seems to me we need to focus on reducing goals against in training rather than increasing goals for through acquisition. Perhaps bringing in a new left winger (should be top priority in my opinion) as Byron Moore hasn't impressed on the pitch yet this season.
Strikers / Wingers
Bodin 3 (2) Gaffney 1 Harrison 1 (2)
Midfielders
Sinclair 1 Sercombe (1)
Defenders
Lockyer 1

Think a winger has to be the top priority now. Most likely on loan. If another forward were to be brought in then surely another would have to leave? Excluding Bodin we have four strikers now.

I'd take another striker (in lamberts mould or himself), a winger and a DM. I'd like all to be permanent, if loans then I'd just go for the winger and DM as don't think the striker is worth gambling over as might unsettle the current mob.

I'd like to add another option.
Last season we started the season with Taylor, Gaffney, Harrison, Easter, James, Lucas.
DC said he wanted to sign 3 strikers, but seems to have changed his mind.

Not seen much of the Stoke lad yet but the others are all ok on their day but to me none stand out. So I'd say yes.

Should already have enough up front anyway. We defo need a winger and I would certainly go all out to get Wheeler of Exeter in. With regards to Defensive midfielder maybe someone else but I would'nt be too worried if we didn't sign another.

I think we need a defensive midfield ball winner so that when Olly Clarke is injured or suspended we don't lose matches like we did in our first two. We do need another winger too and if we could sign both we'd be sorted for a top six finish I hope.

We don't need a forward. We are going to score a similar number to last season but a quality left-sided midfielder would add more goals.
Interestingly, we have conceded 8 in 4 games, so same problem as last season. Does that mean we need a new defender and/or keeper or change the personnel in the team ? or work in training at defending even more ? don't know personally.

Hopefully DC will not let recent results over rule his head. He knows we are not good enough for a top 6 finish and are at least 3 players short. 2 Wingers and a defensive midfielder and may need a centre half if he selects new two tomorrow night and one or the other don't do well. I have the feeling that it will be more about who goes than who comes in and will be disgusted with both DC and the owners if we get caught with Bodin in the same way as taylor.

DC said he was going to bring in at least 11, so on that reckoning we will be seeing a few new players before transfer deadline, we still need to replace the snake, so yes, new centre forward and hopefully a winger to play opposite Bill, one who has a trick can beat a full back and centre the ball to the back of the six yard box. Please

With the ongoing late/non payt of bills, it's hard to see us buying anyone without selling first.

Rovers will sign players if deals can be done. No point in signing just for the sake of it.
Ideally. Striker Defensive midfield left winger.
Cant see a lot being spent on a winger as 4-3-3 is the current formation so a winger is not a starting player. Most likely a loan player. A striker will either be a bigger money signing £300,000 + or a freebie. Defensive midfield player ,if too good will make local boy Clarke a bench warmer and maybe stifle his development . A cheapy may not be good enough for this important role. A balance is required ,someone of the same ability of Clarke but maybe more experience (?) Could be a loan or freebie or from a lower level for a fee. So Rovers could spend a further £500,000 or they may spend nothing. The market will decide.

I think wheeler might be over priced at the moment also im not sure where a right winger would fit in if bodin stays? I suppose the "top 6 " comment has created this feeling by some that we can sign a winger, striker, defensive midfield player etc but im not sure its realistic. I think including the development squad and nicholls, sercombe, bola, telford, smith, broadbent and slocombe the owner has spent a decent amount of money,i cant imagine that any of the permanent signings are on less than a 2 year deal.

A fantasy island post in my view. We have plenty of centre-halves but should they have a poor game at wycombe we wont be throwing them in the bin after one game that wont happen. I just cant see that there is much more to spend right now so i dont know where this "we need 3 more or maybe 4" stuff comes from. With bodin if a really good offer comes in for him from a bigger club its obvious the club will accept it given the time left on his contract.
