Whatever you think about this competition we are at least getting some value out of this game, Telford & Broom get their first starts and goals, Parts continues to clock up his assists, Sercs gets another goal and the back four have a chance to play together ahead of Saturday. It's got to be good for the confidence of the team and the individual players involved. EDIT: Forgot to mention Ollie gets the opportunity to be captain. But you are missing the point - we could be giving the youth an opportunity in this competition as it was originally constituted. What is wrong is that the Prem teams are allowed to enter and in the long run they will complete a takeover of the competition and the lower league clubs will be denied what is their only real chance of a Wembley Cup appearance. No real evidence of that though is there? It's just your opinion, tonight every Premiershite/Championship U21 team lost apart from Newcastle who beat Crewe and Reading who drew.

Bit concerning - according to the Bristol Post Burn may have picked up an injury before he was subbed off. We might need to bring Rollin in for Saturday.

If the competition was framed as a lower leagues reserve team cup competition .Which included u21 teams from higher division clubs. That the lower league clubs could include upto 5 first team players if they wished. I think the competition would be better received.
Its the principle that BRFC and other league one/two clubs are forced to play against u21 teams which seems disrespectful.

Childcare issues prevent me from attending however here s my prediction, Gas 3 Wycombe electricity board 1 Gaffers x2 and Broadbent. Attendance 2357 with 66 Gas there. There will be absolutely nowhere near 2357 there. More like half that I would imagine. darn accurate predicition!

Yeah but are their 30k scabs in attendance. Another example of intolerance to people who do not agree with your stance Everyone has the right to do whatever they wish to do within the law and withouthe the sort of abuse being dished out on here. We live in a democracy or have you conveniently forgotten that. Oh that's my stance is it.Thanks for letting me know chief.

Didn't even know we were playing until I switched on Sky Sports News! Couldn't give a shiny sh**e about this competition. Ah, but still nice to see Rovers winning with a line up change and Telford banging 2 in though right? Very true, nice to see Broom get what I believe is his first 2 professional goals too!

Good on the lads. These players, young, on loan or not, excellent chance tonight to show them what first team games are all about. They are our future after all.

How else do you think calling people scabs for doing something they want to do but you disagree with. They are as entitled to their opinions as you are and if they wish to watch a football match it is their perogating and nothing to do with you

Think the rules are the same because the idea is that prem league under-23 play against experienced pro"s. IF they allowed rovers to play a youth team or weak team it would be of no benefit to the young premier league future england players. Of course none of us give a stuff about any of that and neither do the prem league teams in truth. Wrong there are new rules defining full available strength. Full Available Strength means EFL clubs must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in their starting XI. The four qualifying players must either (a) start the preceding fixture (b) start the fixture immediately after (c) be in the top ten of appearance makers for the club so far that season (d) have made forty or more first team starting appearances in their career to date. Well that makes the competition more attractive and we gave a lot of fringe players a game tonight to good effect. Ps i know we still dont want to be playing v under-21 teams

Interesting post-match interview from Stewie - was that a thinly-veiled dig at Snakey there at the end? "As we all know, the grass isn't always greener on the other side . . ."

That was exactly what I thought. Encouraging words really given gossip. Definitely sounds like one still coming in and fighting to not sell. Can't ask for much more from MS

I'm apathetic towards this competition, but if we managed to get to Wembley I will be straight on the phone ordering tickets for block 133. And I wont be sorry about it. I'm the victim afterall.
