Now that Steve Yates has left, it seems to me we are in need of a defensive coach. This is not a knee jerk reaction to yesterday's match because maybe if Sweeney & Lockyer were present the outcome may have been different but let's not forget that pairing were there when Peterborough put 4 past us. From my seat in the Dribuid , the thing that is different this season is the constant instructions from Yatesy to the defence & assume he played a major role on the training ground.

Pretty sure he was here at the end of last season when we let 3+ goals v P'boro, Gillingham and Millwall?

Even with Yates in charge we conceded 11 in our last 3 matches, not to forget another two embarrassing defeats against Charlton. How do we know Yates hasn't been replaced? We have grown our coaching staff a lot recently, so it would surprise me if we haven't replaced Yates.

DC said after Yatesy left he would assess the situation and would consider bringing in a replacement if needs be.

I would not be surprised to see him back one day but not when DC is in charge.

They had their chance to offer Macca the role. He was always talking and encouraging team mates especially Leadbitter.

Shame he wasn't still around to play last Saturday My favourite defender from my time watching Rovers. What he lacked in pace he more than made up for in his positional sense, reading of the game and general game intelligence. Amazing to thing he's still our record signing all these years later.

Tilly was the best header of the ball ive seen from a Rovers CB. I loved it when he used to go on a dribble past 3 players before realising he was on the halfway line and quickly passed it! I've also had the pleasure of being coached from the man himself and would definitely recommend him for a role at this club.

I remember during the warm up the amount of heading drills he used to go through. Header after header, after header. Quality player and always seemed like a great bloke too. Would love to see him back here in some capacity.
