Exactly. Torn as to whether this is a good thing or not. On the one hand, it allows an additional revenue stream to lower league clubs and provides an opportunity for those who don't travel to watch away games. The other, attendances will inevitably be hit and in particular away support. Hopefully they price games sensibly and find a balance between affordability and not providing too much of an incentive for people who travel not to do so.

I think you'll find, if you read the link this really only applies to Championship matches.
"and a minimum of 20 League One and League Two games."

Of more interest to Gasheads:
"All EFL clubs will be able to stream midweek league games via their websites if Sky are not broadcasting it live."

Sky Sports will have the right to stream the same Championship fixtures to subscribers across their interactive and digital services.

Or perhaps this will make the people who do the fixture list stop sending teams on such ridiculous journeys on a week night.

That said, Plymouth, Oxford etc away on a Tuesday night would surely result in a good proportion of supporters streaming the game as opposed to travelling and attending. I would imagine die hards that would go to Scunthorpe, Doncaster etc would do so regardless.

I think what the report says is that if the game is not being shown on Sky, then clubs are free to do as they wish. At the moment, most clubs have signed up to iFollow. Not sure how long that contract is for.

I assume the sums have been done to allow for reduced numbers through the turnstiles being covered by the extra tv revenue. We could genuinely start seeing zero away supporters for midweek games at the Mem.

I don't think that would ever happen, there's always a group of supporters at every club that will follow their team home and away no matter what. We could certainly see lots of teams bringing sub 100 followings which imo will be a massive shame as no away support makes the atmosphere suffer as a result.

I wonder how this will effect the likes of Bury and Rochdale etc, where I assume a sizable part of their match day income comes from large away followings? Likewise how will it effect us if we ever get promoted to the Championship. Could we even start showing mid week away games live at the Mem!

The club said this before the start of this season. They said from next season we will be able to watch all games in the UK, apart from Saturday afternoon games. It was on our website.

It wasn't the club actually, it was the post that reported it back in July. Here is what the reporter said at the time: Bristol Rovers fans will be able to watch their side play live through a streaming service from 2019 - that’s if the Pirates are still in League One by then. The English Football League is negotiating a new set of TV rights and are holding talks with Amazon and Twitter about bringing in a service where supporters would be able to subscribe to view their club’s games via a streaming or digital platform. The new system would use the EFL’s iFollow service – that has been introduced this season – which costs £110 to see coverage of up to 46 fixtures.

I think it's a crap idea in that the best atmospheres are when you've got decent travelling away support . If there's only 12 away fans then you don't get any banter back off them and it feels so one sided. Another example of TV taking over football and ruining the match day experience

Maybe this is part of a masterplan to end away support. No away fans at the game = no segregation ,less police costs ,less stewarding costs.
If all away games were shown live at the New Mem on a big screen. Teams could make more revenue every week of the season. Lose 500 away fans one week but gain 4000 home fans watching on the screen the next week.

More like the big get bigger the small just die? The big games this season will be Pompey and Plymuff regardless where they are in the league not playing Wigan!
