Northampton Town FC have sent me this today:
"Also on Saturday, we will be opening a brand new GAME Zone on the West Stand concourse at Sixfields, headed up by our very own latest new signing, Liam Merry!
Liam, isn't a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder or a striker, but he is an EA Sports Online Ranked Top 50 player who is also known online as RREAPERZz, and has been playing FIFA professionally since 2015. He has been recruited to represent Northampton Town in online tournaments both nationally and internationally. He will also be at Sixfields on matchdays, heading up our brand new GAME Zone that will open for the first time at the Bristol Rovers game on Saturday. The GAME Zone has been supported by GAME in Northampton, and includes a number of PS4s that will be available for supporters to use, under the guidance of Liam, every home matchday.
Turnstiles for Saturday's game will open at 1pm, and from 1pm until 2pm Liam will be in the GAME Zone on the West Stand concourse, playing games of FIFA against Cobblers supporters. Games will last for 6 minutes. From 2pm onwards, Liam will be recruiting a for a FIFA fans tournament, so for more details and to register your interest in joining the FIFA Fans Tournament for future games, please email gamezone@ntfc.co.uk
Make sure you don’t miss out on the fun!"
Should we be developing this type of initiative for our Gaming enthusiasts?

I wonder if he uses "I am an EA Sports Top 50 Online player" when out on the pull?
The birds must be all over him

Pretty good idea to be fair. Plus as it's sponsored I doubt it cost them much if anything. Gets people to the ground early and they might spend a few extra quid.

I remember hours spent in front of the tv in awe of just how good computer games had become compared to Pong. They can't spell Bristol right though.

No, thank god we don't get involved in nonsense such as this.
Gamers are generallly a bunch of losers who have nothing better to do than sit in their rooms playing in some sort of 'virtual' world.
It's okay if you're about 5, but anything older than that you need to get a grip of yourselves.
They are usually the same sad bunch that like Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and Star Trek.
Get out of your bedrooms and get on with someone proper.

In all seriousness in reply to the OP, it's a good idea and an alternative to the 'old fashioned' activities the club host.
Pay to play virtual reality would be a good idea since it's financially out of reach to some people but carries enough curiosity to want to try it. If it was advertised well these kind of events could be successful.
