What I'm reading is ex director, mate of a mate, conversation in a pub, backed up by someone else in a pub (who probably did nothing more than overhear the original conversation). Doesn't make me think this is anything more than gossip and speculation. That's a fair assumption Scooby and as I stated earlier, I'm just seeing if anyone else had heard similar. The developer mentioned earlier in the thread is spot on and it was suggested that his company was looking to buy the mem for housing as well as as land owned by UWE hence the reason he was talking to them regarding Accomodation and the Stadium. No mention of consortium or funding so could be nonsense. May be worth adding that the "source" has recently done some work for the club and has no agenda. Having considered this at some length, at least 5 minutes, I have come to the conclusion that it would be a cats asstrophy if Ed Ware managed to get his hands on our football club. Why? I hear you chorus. Well, it seems to me the ideal time to purchase the club was when Higgs was on his arse, when Shitsburys pulled the plug and the purchase price would surely have been a lot cheaper. It would also have meant all that money borrowed from Wonga would have been saved, and there wouldn't have been all that time wasted pursuing a lost cause through the courts, lining the pockets of greedy, grasping lawyers. If Ed Ware and his associates are interested in building houses on the Mem now, they would have had the same interests then, he could have put together a consortium, a much loved concept on the pages of this forum, and we could all have had a whale (sic) of a time. No, to try and purchase the club from a Wiley family of Arab investment bankers, a club now on the rise in the first division, against purchasing a non-league outfit struggling for life, demonstrates a woeful lack of business acumen. Do we want an organisation that inept running our club? Consider also that, after a boom period of house building with sky-high profits as a result of almost nil interest rates, against a scenario where interest rates are going to rise and there could well be a housing slump, I'd say Ed and the gang have well and truly missed the boat. Be careful what you wish for, that's what I say. |

What's Ed Ware ever done that hasn't been In the best interests of BRFC that would make him so untrustworthy. He was the one who put so much time and effort into UWE getting the whole project off the ground. he has no agenda against the ALQs, just wants answers about their agenda going forward, or lack of it. He isn't the only ex director with those questions either. I think most of us want those questions answered. Exactly, so if a VP and Ex director can't get them how on earth can the average fan on the terrace? |

Or maybe just a concerned fan who is frustrated that the owners are worse at communicating with the fans than any regime that has run the club yet get less stick than any other board have. I think most of our fan base has been hypnotised by them! Strange that none of the club staff who have not been paid according to CG have not come out and expressed their concerns about our owners? Its seems odd that this argument is still being supported by the fence, surely the club have been procuring other services that could have not been paid for since "The Dodgy Fence"? |

This could be true without being a takeover bid. If EW wants to develop the Mem AND part of the Colony site, a deal weighted in favour of the club could tip the balance in terms of UWE viability and still make him some money. Win win.

This could be true without being a takeover bid. You could be spot on with that shout , in all fairness the Alqs are investment bankers so I would've thought that any investment opportunities should be looked at if it furthers our interest, the downside of course could be that our only asset gets sold from under our feet . |

Maybe it has something to do with the amount of bills stacking up unpaid, including the company who put up the fencing at the new training ground who have now instigated legal proceedings, also members of staff being paid late. But hey, let's all keep pretending the new owners are gods shall we. Well, in that case I'd suggest you make a subtle hint about a big problem within our club, and then not give any details. I have to say I didn't agree with you here so in order to back up my position I did a little research by reading back the posting history of Chippenhamgas. I won't lie, after the first 6 pages (60 posts) I lost the will to live. There was not a single reference made to the team, players or matchday and every single post was a negative spin on any and every bit of Rovers news with a very anti Board feeling. |

What kind of forum would this be if only the "rose tinters" are allowed to speak without ridicule or getting accused of being a shithead?
The ALQs have been appalling at communicating after the initial fanfare when they told us everything we wanted to hear. Fans are right to be question them. I cannot believe the easy ride they get on here. I think they must have hypnotised most of the fans, luckily it wasn't at a game I attended!
