Had a very interesting conversation with a close friend of an ex Director. He's convinced that a certain Developer is looking at a takeover with a view to building a number of homes on the Mem site and is still in talks with UWE. I know there's been lots of rumours and BS flying around so I was genuinely interested to see if anyone else had heard anything similar?

Not claiming to be ITK or have access to the corridors of power 😊 I was told this info in a pub after a few beers but is was backed up by someone else who has a lot more contacts than I do. The developer mentioned is well known to the club and is a specialist housing developer! Don't shoot the messenger, I was just curious as to wether anyone else had any similar info as I can't be bothered to read through the numerous threads !

So Ed Ware then? The big question must be how a developer is going to make the UWE viable if neither NH, w/o Sainsbury's, or the ALQ's could?

What I'm reading is ex director, mate of a mate, conversation in a pub, backed up by someone else in a pub (who probably did nothing more than overhear the original conversation). Doesn't make me think this is anything more than gossip and speculation.

Think the stadium could be viable, it appeared as if we didnt want to spend the money being asked. It may have been viable with the bulk of funds coming from Sainsburys. Without it, it needs finance and unless someone is kind enough to just drop however million on it, than that is additional finance that needs to be paid for by the stadium (and not given to UWE)

I can't work out if this developer is lining up a bid to buy Bristol Rovers off our current owners or not.

So a developer wants to buy us to build houses on the mem, whilst we go to UWE to presumably rent land....
I dont think any housing contractor would be interested in running a loss making football club. So would not be good news for Rovers.
