I feel our form and inconsistency's this season is partly/mostly down to lack of leadership on field. We have lost Mansell, Mildy, Easter, Macca and Hartley from our set up last season. These senior pro's would be a big miss in and around any changing room. Don't want to have a dig at Lockyer but do people feel he is leading from the front? For me its time for DC to go out in January and get some leaders back into the changing room and replace the experienced seniors we have let go.

How many games did those players actually start last season, can they influence the teams performance sat on the bench/in the stands?
Plus was DC given sufficient funds anyway to bring in similar experienced Div 1 players, if not, will he be given sufficient in January?

Mansell is still registered to play - leader and captain is what's needed Spoke to him last night - needs the call

Agree. Hopefully an experienced CB and CM that can get us going when we're up against it and bring out the best in the players around them.
If we can tighten up at the back we are sorted as we're scoring more then enough goals at the other end

Plus was DC given sufficient funds anyway to bring in similar experienced Div 1 players, if not, will he be given sufficient in January? DC started to phase these players out and we became a soft touch for conceding goals. Leaders, alpha males are required in and around a successful squad. No one knows if DC had or has the funds to replace these sort of players we are missing. If I was DC I would make sure my first signing would be in the mould of Lee Mansell, leader on the pitch, leader off it. His game management was first class in the ref's ear all the time, its something I don't see now.

This for me was the same thing that Trollope did. Didn't replace the players who had done so well for us with anything near as good.
Not signing an experienced CB and CDM in the summer is looking costly now.

Need a leader; unfortunately captaincy is not helping Tom; need someone in the mould of Vaughan Jones (maybe would need to tone the swearing down a little), IMO Joner was a fantastic captain.

Excellent post Nortongashead. Agree with you 100%. Just think of players like Tony Adams at Arsenal and John Terry at Chelsea. Born leaders, fearless, led by example, and inspired players around them. Get the feeling this has been absent in our team for a long time time. Shame DC can,t see this is. Do you and Stevie K want to be the new managers?

Do you and Stevie K want to be the new managers? Thanks, I'm sure DC see's our leadership problem. Hoping Broadbent can fill a leadership role but being a first year pro, his main efforts are to forge a career for himself in the short-term. As for managing with Steve K only if he picked the team and tactics !!!
