To me a shock when we bought him especially after Harrison. Scored 4 past him last year and after reading Northampton’s fan forum when he left to see their reaction they didn’t seem bothered...they all said he’s weak at set pieces and doesn’t command his area and he’s proven that time and time again for us in my opinion... So if will dubious whatever his name is had anything to do with it shows our recruitment seems a waste of money and time... Sam Between the sticks for me as much more calmer...

As it was such a shock to you when we signed him can you direct me to the post you obviously would have made at that time?

Are we just going to start ripping the team apart one by one ? We all can see that confidence is low at this time so what we need to do is stick two fingers up to everyone else and do what we used to do in times of trouble and get behind the team that unites us all ! We are the GAS don't ever forget it ! We were better off when we dreamt that one day we would win the equivalent of the football lottery ( rich owners ) We never will so let's go back to getting behind the team we all love UTG

Smith. Check. Brown. Check. DC. Check. Nichols. Check. Lockyer. Check. Lines. Check. Harrison. Check. Moore. Check, check and check.
Who's next?
I suggest Bodin. Lazy sick note bastard.

Weren't the Northampton fans surprised that he chose to come to us as they seemed to think he would be going to a championship club iirc.

I’m not entirely convinced by either keeper so far but I prefer Slocombe. We’ve only played a third of the season and they’ve played roughly half the games each so they deserve more time before their written off.

Seems like we have signed 2 average keepers rather than one really good one and one below average.

Both our keepers have had a lot to do when you look at the number of shots they have had to deal with due to our sh** defending

Both our keepers have had a lot to do when you look at the number of shots they have had to deal with due to our sh** defending Yeah, I agree with this, but at the same time, it's amazing how much better our defence was last season with a lot of the same players but with Lumley behind them. And how much worse we were before Lumley came. Not saying that any of this is down to Smith (I've genuinely no idea), but maybe Lumley was the key to it all.

There has been a marked dip in form from the players who played last year unfortunately

Not really sure what’s going on with Smith & Mrs Slocombe, both seem Lacking in confidence? But perhaps as suggested by others it’s the crap and shambolic defending in front of them? As for Sweeney, what the hell has happened to him! Lockyear making lots of mistakes it’s no wonder 30 league goals have gone against us, it’s all a bit baffling?

Suprisised you say that about their forun, I read quite a bit of it when he signed and the majority had him high in their lists of who they wanted to stay, and expected him to move upto the Championship. Wasn't he also their player of the year? Blackpool fans on the other hand, didn't seem to bothered if Slocombe stuck around, considering him a reasonable backup.

I think it's a mixture of last season the defence had confidence in lumley being a safe option should they make a mistake.this year the keepers we have are more susceptible to mistakes so the defence tries to compensure for that and in doing so make their own mistakes.this then rebounds on the keeper who is expecting errors in front of him so is on edge and his decision making is affected. It's no coincidence that all the defenders who looked so confident last year look out of sorts this year

Ah lumley, I still have a little chuckle to myself when I remember all the vitriol that was posted about him when he signed , now he's like the messiah, and we call the shiteds fickle.....

Wasn't Smith voted the best goalkeeper in League 2? He was certainly the keeper in the League 2 team of the year when ourselves and Northampton went up?
Also the Northampton fans were surprised he signed for us rather than a team a league above.
No offence to the original poster, but with all due respect I think the post is absolute bollocks.

That is totally disrespectful he is entitled to his opinion as are you. If you think Smith is a better keeper thames lumley that is your perogative but in my view he isn't and at the moment his decision making is flawed try viewing the cock up between him and Broadbent which nearly cost an own goal and broadbents reaction.

Lumley was one of the best keepers I've seen in a Rovers shirt.
