1. My first game April 76 v Southampton won 2-0 with Frankie Prince scoring twice. 2. Having bricks thrown over onto us by Spurs fans. 3. The amazing 5-5 draw against Charlton and there being a female Charlton fan on the Tote being protected by two burley gasheads. 4. Playing West Ham and not realising until the teams came out I was actually surrounded by West Ham fans. 5.The final ever match at Eastville walking off the Tote thinking I'd just seen the final match in the History of Rovers. 6. On a snowy February day throwing snow balls at the brass band that walked around at half time trying to get them into the tuba!!Was that the Ipswich 2-2 5th round FA Cup tie? Where Bobby Gould had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside that would have put us 3-1 up? Ipswich won the cup that year - Just Sayin'........ No it was 10th Feb 79 in an old division 2 match. We won 2-0. It was such a boring game despite winning and a sparse crowd the best entertainment on offer was the throwing of snow balls. Funny what you can remember. Forgot to say it was against Cambridge United.

I'll start off by saying if I dream of going to a match, it's always at Eastville! The 5-4 match v York city, Harold hat trick, in the fog on a Saturday afternoon. Beating Bradford city 7-1 Bruce bannister got their goal, then we signed him! Playing a full strength man united team including Bobby chart on George best etc drawing 1-1 with a bigger crowd than in the replay which we won at old Trafford. Aston villa with frankie prince Aqua plaining in the terrible rain, with his skin head haircut and rugby boots! Stoke city losing 2-4 but biggest crowd I've been in at Eastville Charlton 5-5, went with my nephew, his first and only game I think?! We were 2-5 down at one stage I think Great atmosphere at the old ground!!

David Williams, Gary Mabbutt, Paul Randall, Mickey Barrett. Four of the best to have ever played for us (in my time).

Ah memories!i remember most of all thats been already posted,so many favorites, Paul Rand against Southampton in the mud , Bobby Gould's disallowed goal v Ipswich in the cup in the snow, ball came to him off Ipswich defender so couldn't be offside!the Villa cup games and games against them in the old third division, Gorden Bennett, remember him?what a character, walked miles to raise funds, went to same school as him and was one of gang who followed his lead with chants in south enclosure, is he still around? believe he went to was it Norwich or Ipswich ? changing ends at half time , clarks pies Mmm, true blue club, shame cant remember first game but know i had a rattle!like many others i could write a book! The brass band , half time scores on those huge numbers behind the goals, flower beds, used to be able to transfer to stand at half time for nowt! and of course The Gas!but more than any thing else the one thing if i had to choose?Harold cutting in from the wing , waltzing round 2 or 3 hapless defenders and smashing one into the top corner, before returning to the wing to take the acclaim from the adoring north enclosure, thanks for the memories Harold!great thread by the way among all the unwarranted doom and gloom!

My dad getting me and my brother in free all the time, he always went to same old lady in the turnstile to south stand enclosure. We’d wait a few steps back while he checked she was there then he’d call us over. . . The smell of the urinal (painted black) in the bogs and steaming torrents of water, made a big impression when I was 6 or 7! Sitting on the wall and kicking the hare wire. The snowy game with orange ball. Smash and grab, frankie Prince, bobby Gould, paul Randall. . . .

I can't recall anyone having such passion for BRFC as Gordon Bennett and wished he stayed. Also throwing coins into the large container as it was carried around the greyhound track.

When I first went to eastville in 1984 How the clouds were blackened, and how the rain did pour
The north stand terrace flooded The hallowed pitch was muddied A ghost of times before
A low attendance gathered to watch a game of old The future wasn't certain, the club were sure to fold
The misery was lifted when we began to score Northern b@stards Burney 0 the mighty gas scored 4

As others have mentioned for me those floodlit matches in the league cup in the 70"s were the highlight of my youth with my dad in the north enclosure. I remember us beating norwich city 3-1 in an electric atmosphere with their acrobatic keeper kevan keelan and ferocious centre-half duncan forbes. I think bobby jones and harold jarman were in their element in those home cup matches if not always so in away league games. Also remember that tough centre forward any lochead for villa and the dazzling stoke city team that beat us in 1972.

There will never be anything like the Smash and Grab era of the early 70's at Eastville. You could just sense something happening after the Watney Cup win and it didn't take long for the promotion to come. The roar of the Tote End was immense. The same people stood in the same areas most weeks. Anyone that can remember those years will know that pre match you would be looking around to see who was about and then you would notice people moving into position having noticed any strangers to the Tote. As soon as there was any indication of strangers the inevitable cry of 'Hello, Hello, Tote End Aggro Tote End Aggro' would go up, followed by 'You're gonna get your Chuffing heads kicked in'. The strangers didn't have time to hang about as the same lads cleaned up the Tote and restored order. Marvellous times. The smell of fags, leather and cider, boots everywhere, and Rovers banging in goals for fun.

The Hofmeister sign over the Tote End, Oscar selling programmes, swapping ends at half time to watch the game in the opposition half so I could see our goals better.

The last few years at Eastville we’re a bit of a blurr. I do remember frequently pounding on the door of this fine establishment way before 11am. TBH it looks a bit of a sh1thole in comparison to what we now have on offer down the Glossy road.

I can't recall anyone having such passion for BRFC as Gordon Bennett and wished he stayed. Also throwing coins into the large container as it was carried around the greyhound track. Gordon Bennett was a great character, I remember when BRFC decided to put some raised wooden planks in the North Stand calllng them "terrace seating for away fans". These seats were in a great position, right at the front of the stand about on the halfway line. There were 5 of us who went to the matches and we all agreed that we wanted season tickets for those seats, however when I asked to buy them I was told they wern't for sale as they were for away fans only. I got together all the money, in cash, and went to the Frenchay training ground to see Gordon. When I asked him if I could buy 5 season tickets for those seats, he said no, I then took the cash out of my pocket and fanned it like a pack of cards, he changed his mind and sold us the season tickets and we had them every year until they knocked it down. My first game was in 1959, aged just 8, we used to get the "special bus" these were buses that went round the housing estates picking up supporters to take them to the ground and after the game they all lined up parked on Muller Rd to take them home. We stood in the open end until it was sold as part of the Tesco Development. When they demolished the terracing they discovered a WW2 unexploded bomb (unknown to us who had been standing on it for years) The Army steamed the explosives out of it as they deemed that because of its location it was too dangerous to do a controlled explosion. My most fond memory was the 5-5 draw against Charlton.
